I have a new idea to incentivize living and not treating your squad is cannon fodder

For every second your squad is alive they’re getting One point of XP and when they finally die and all the kills are added up they get a bonus On how much XP They got while living and killing things.

And tankers and planes are not included unless you’re on the ground and not in your tank or plane.

And anyone’s free to expand or improve my idea.

I’d say that a better idea is to remove exp reduction you get when your soldier lives too long.

This will literally only serve to encourage snipers, mortars and artillery spam instead of incentivizing people to play the point.

No thanks

So you want to enable AFK leveling from inside your greyzone?

If people started hiding to score points, the game would become terribly boring.

I’m in favor of slowing down the gameplay and giving it more depth, but that’s not the way to go. the entire design of the game would have to take a different path, unfortunately that is not expected.

this is very interesting, I wonder… (if it’s true), what is it for? I don’t think players realize this, it won’t change anyone’s approach, so a particular style of play benefits without any visible information about it.

nonetheless it should be removed, beginner players tend to play more slowly, they may unknowingly slow down their progress, which may distract them from the game

exp should be based solely on battle points and awards, everything would be transparent and clear.

All true but when you have a good death Stack going on there’s not much XP to go around And it rewards people for acting as support making sure rally points are set up and setting up traps.

There are better solutions for XP in the face of a death stack. Bonus XP for being near the objective, supporting tanks or something. Just not the survivor XP bonus. Last time someone said something like this, there was a very clear and resounding no as a response. I’d prefer not to have to do all of that again.

Define cannon fodder. Every spawn I try to fulfill the Squads role and do my job to the best of my ability. And that means even doing it under fire. Sometimes a few eggs get scrambled

You are right that there needs to be something done to AI, they are indeed only cannon fodder.

Yet “XP and points” should always be a direct reflection of a players contribution towards victory, and staying alive usually only means that you don’t push the objective - which would be most often the opposite of being helpful to your team.

THIS I agree with!

As far as this goes, trust me I get what you are trying to achieve. HOWEVER, as others have pointed out it will lead to an abundance of snipers and such.

That said, I think its a good starting point for an idea.

However, what I would instead suggest is perhaps more along the lines of a bonus for surviving for x amount of time, while still racking up x amount of score.

Both longer distance support and close quarters combatants could make use of this. It essentially just means that you would need to meet certain “quotas” of score to get your bonus for surviving and reaching that goal at the same time.
Additionally, if they are reaching it more than just the one time, perhaps an increasing size of a bonus if the quota of points within x time is being reached time and time again by that SAME squad/ character. (The same expectation should be applied to all infantry types, so a universal rule would need to be set.

The example of this is say the time frame is 3 minutes, and the expected quota of points is 450 points.

  • If a SQUAD survives for 3 minutes and racks up the 450 points, they get an additional 50 points.

  • If that same squad is alive for another 3 minutes and racks up ANOTHER 450 points, they get an additional 100 points, total of 150 now.

  • If they survive an additional 3 minutes and rack up ANOTHER 450 points, they get an additional 150 points, total of 300 now.

  • ETC.

The point is to get them to not just try to survive for longer, but to continue assisting the team in meaningful ways (enough to generate the quota score in x amount of time), this would also potentially help to incentivize things like putting down ammo boxes and rally points, as that would help to generate the needed points within that amount of time!

So my question to the other members of the forum on this thread is this:

What amount of score should be EXPECTED from players within say a 2-3 minute time frame?

Personal thoughts relating to this part:

  • If the time for the quota amount is too LONG, it will make it to where their support isn’t pressing enough. This especially plays into the players that are surviving by just sitting back with radio operator squads raining artillery every 2 minutes.

  • While it needs to be an OBTAINABLE goal, it shouldn’t be set too low to where it is an EASY thing to do. Players should still be providing their team with enough support that it is quite noticeable.

  • I don’t think vehicles should be included in THIS particular scoring mechanic, but they should have their own that incentivizes smart and effective play.

  • Please keep in mind the score you get for certain actions such as:

    • Kills = 30
    • Assists = 15
    • Rally point spawns = 30
    • Ammo box uses = 30
    • Destruction of enemy strategic structure = 55
    • Taking out enemy tanks and aircraft are also extremely lucrative for points.
    • These things can stack up quickly!

There is a reduction!?!?!

Yes there is the devs they want us to die stupid amount of time to get some decent XP instead of living as long as possible.

I never knew that. That explains why when I’m doing outstanding it’s very in effective of gaining points. I also see the other comments saying that camping or sniping is bad cause it’s not supporting, I get that 100% because I’ll get killed by Sherman’s on Normandy Beach when I play as Germans and it’s annoying because I can’t flank them. Yet I snipe or MG gunner and support my defense or even an offense from a side shot and outgun the enemy as they approach the position. I have two squad mates that have the large backpack and 3 medkits each, they are my “medics” and I request medical from them when I need it. It helps me a lot, and I do die and lose a decent amount of squads, but the kill to squad ratio is always 9:1 or 10:1. I try to be a team player and I enjoy the game for that reason.

I remember fighting you in Berlin. Your team was struggling to defend the objective, and you were more than happy to sit camping as far away from the objective as possible while utilizing a heavy machinegun, as well as some mortars.

You also quit out the match after you died less than a handful of times, abandoning your team to lose after someone took the liberty of slapping you. You didn’t even really reach the top 3 of your team at the time.

You’re incentivizing your own camping despite not being at all effective at killing things.
You, as a defender, had unlimited lives, and yet you’d rather keep out of the objective and fight for your team.

The game game us bots to populate our squads for a reason. Lives are merely spent, and there is no downside to doing so, not even repair/maintenance fees like in War Thunder.

It only affects your ego.

Because I have no reason to be loyal to my team especially when they’re randoms and I can’t communicate with them And especially when you’re an F2P player and you’re trying to level up I’m only interested in where I can get XP to make sure I meet my quota or meet the amount of XP for the event instead of wasting my time to be entertainment for someone else.
