The FNAB-43, for example, is good for shooting on the move because it’s controllable, has a low rate of fire, and a good magazine capacity, similar to the MP3008. I remember using that combat style quite a bit in my early days. But yes, the MP40 was the best option available up to BR4, since I feel like Berettas can’t be used effectively with just a few perks, plus some pre-merge equipment. And the VG1-5 is technically the undisputed flagship weapon of Germany (along with the MG34) in BR3-4, and it’s useful for quite a few roles, although it’s somewhat awkward to aim, unless they put in a 20-round version of the Kilary or some Spanish SMG in 9x23mm Long, I don’t see Germany excelling in those BRs, without forgetting the lack of a true semi-automatic also obviously.
Edit: It would also be good to have a bolt-action rifle with good capacity that fires without having to lower the rifle; the VG.2 should be that, but… it’s difficult, to be honest.

In Tier 1 combat, you are free to use bolt-action rifles. From Tier 2 onwards, you need to get used to using submachine guns. From Tier 3 onwards, you need to learn how to use anti-tank weapons and become proficient in using tanks and fighter jets. Remember, do not use bolt-action rifles in high-level combat; this is crucial, or you will suffer heavy losses.

Although even in Tier 1 you’re usually not safe from Tier 2 SMGs, at least with Japan it’s difficult since they only have one SMG in that BR.
In higher tiers, bolt-action rifles might not be very useful, or there might be an exception if you also use sniper rifles, but generally the only bolt-action rifles I use are the Type 99 with grenade launchers. I carry 10 or 8 (double slots) of those in a machine gun squad where I only have one gunner, and that’s the one with my Browning .303. If he falls, the next soldier has to pick up the MG and can still switch to the second rifle with the grenade launcher. And if you replace it with the rifle from the first slot, you can technically repeat that several times.
With Germany, I mostly use MGs or engineers, but I’m better with tanks or strategic construction in that BR.

If you really can’t gather that many submachine guns, just pick up the enemy’s; it’s better than fighting with a bolt-action rifle and bayonets.

Certainly, those PPSHs are quite useful when you pick up them, especially the drum ones.
