Assault is a gamemode that was reintroduced during the Normandy campaign
This mode gives defenders 2 cap zones instead of one. I loved this gamemode in Moscow campaign but in Normandy…it’s impossible to win as attackers
What is the issue?
This gamemode has a lot of potential with big, wide, open maps and 2 cap zones also reduce the meatgrinder
The main issue is that defenders can easily win because they can always recapture their zones.
How to fix this?
To fix this issue, I have come up with an idea
Why not just reduce the player limit for defenders so attackers can be higher in numbers (like war in real life)
This way, defenders can still win easily but recapturing the zones will not be as easy and they will have to use grenades, artillery etc. to kill all the attackers sitting on the point.
I think this is a better solution than just removing the gamaemode (again)

Sadly the gamemode is about as rare as an unicorn so we can’t test it much,
but generally the defenders won on the last cap(s) for me, with them barely hanging on, or complete steamrolls where the attacking team is never stopped.
That’s right. But it also depends a bit on the map. In “The Battle of Moskow” it’s pretty easy for the defenders. I’ve played games where the attackers didn’t even capture the first point.
In “Normandy” I haven’t had the mode that often to be able to tell. The only thing I’ve noticed is that in “D-day” the Americans usually win.
I still had no chance at all to play assault mode… so no @5762269, this isn´t rare like unicorn… its even worse than that.
But judging by my memories from Moscow, defenders usually had extremely easy time by the last two points because spawns were simply too close, or attacking team was unable to split their forces (incompetency issue). As far as I have heard (because, remember I had no damn chance to play assault since Im spammed by domination mode in WT style) this issue is still not quite resolved.
I would suggest moving defender spawns a bit further away from the points instead.
You can at least see a bloody clouds that look like that from time to time (you know, human brain is rich on fantasy). Assault is literally nonexistent.
I´m sure, that it is just a wild imagination. Don´t do drugs kids!
Now, I will be serious… before we can say for sure what is needed to balance assault, we actually need to see that gamemode more frequently… far more frequently.
Nope, at least I didn´t. I was totally serious with that one.
I would have more chance upgrading carabine with 10% success rate at 200 parts than getting assault mode atm.
It almost feels like generic domination (aka conquest) completely flooded matchmaker.
One particular issue with higher number of players on one side is the current veteran-newbie difference that exists.
One experienced player can easily change the tide of the game. It’s seen regularly even with other modes. Having 3 extra players with premium squad as their best squad will never amount to a veteran player with fully loaded SMG, LMG and a support squad.
I personally don’t want to see one side with less players. I can see why it was suggested. But I’d rather look for some other alternatives. Taking some of their advantage away is a good start.
