How to fix grey zone camping

First of all, there’s literally no identification of how to tell if you are in your team’s grey zone or no.

Most of grey zone campers are literally just noobs that stopped moving once they spot first enemy. It’s not like they’re intentionally taking advantage of artificial protection.

Then show everyone where the grey zone is.

you know where you can always get AT mined? d-day road through wall. why? cause tanks must pass there.

It’s better to teach them not to do this, because then they’ll end up being grey zone campers

That’s more of a map issue, I think they should give more passing through points on the D-day maps (which in my option are horrible)

But once the point is taken the mine already has failed as a fortification.

No, you put the mine on the road that is a bit farther back to prepare to be pushed back, then if your team gets pushed back, the mine is there and ready.

Only to find out that the next objective is in the othere direction useing a diffrent road and your first point got overrun since you did fuck all to defend that.

Then put mines on both roads? Just fortify all possible routes for tanks, be strategic. That’s what I do.

Also don’t forget, you don’t have to go far into the greyzone to get into the enemys spawns, so greyzone camping tanks are often parked in areas that will be killing your guerillas anyway (and way faster than normal greyzone).

You can list however many things you want (they all got their individual flaws too,) but you also you fully well know that greyzone camping tanks remains a huge problem, this list of counters does not deflect the fact that there is still an issue.

Now for the suggestion itself… whilst it’s an issue that needs solving (specificly for tanks, snipers are nuisance but not a gamebreaker), I think we should be doing more to encourage aggressive tank plays rather than just shoving them forcefully out the front door. There actually is a good reason for why people greyzone camp with tanks, it’s because being aggressive is just too dangerous for a half-blind unescorted tank when any dummy with a dynamite bundle and two braincells can take you out on their own (and AT weapons makes this even more simpler), and they do because the engine sound is a free dinner-bell to anyone who knows what they’re doing. A aggressive tank is a jackpot of a catch in terms of score if you can land it.

Players have to tools and the incentive to take out aggressive tanks, but the tanks have no tools or incentives to be aggressive, leading to this all too common stalemate.

What we need to do is reward tank-infantry co-operation and forward playing tanks. Tanks should be able to capture objectives (slowly), and infantry should get score increases from fighting near or defending a allied tank (because lord knows the regular player won’t lift a finger unless they get something for helping). We should move from the greyzone protecting the tanks to the team protecting the tanks. I’m sure there are other tweaks that could expand upon this concept, we should work to integrate tanks more in the regular gameplay loop, not have them be seperate behind the front line.

You know how enlisted has “objective defended”? What if they also had a “tank defended”, that gives bonus points!

Exactly what I’m thinking! Just a simple +10 “defended tank” score for every kill taken near the tank or against soldiers “targeting the tank” (if they’d get a assist from the tank being destroyed, they count as “targeting” it) would go a really long way to fix this problem!

The individual is smart, people are dumb, they need incentives to do things, and “funny number go up” is the best way to do that.

I think they could add this along side my original idea, because It makes tanks push and also encourages Infantry to protect tanks!

i am infantry main that sometimes loves to fly. grey zone tanks really arent an issue. if they are particularly annoying i take plane and kill tank, otherwise i mostly ignore them(or kill them with rocket launcher/explosive pack)

if this was 2-3 years ago when BR1 tanks were facing BR5 tanks, AT guns and rocket launchers were inadequate against end game tanks and people didnt have any counter besides planes, then i would say that grey zone tanks were an issue. ffs i even made topic about grey zone tanks myself at that time. but in 2025 where you have mostly BR MM which pairs tanks that can destroy each other, AT gun and rocket launchers that are usable for all tiers and you are even given guerilla that can get to grey zone tank.

i was one of the louder voices on forum who were for giving people counter to tanks and not limiting gameplay. i was for active lobbyist for stronger rocket launcher, better AT guns, APCR rounds for tanks that needed them and better tanks for certain nations. only thing that devs still havent implemented is second vehicle slot for f2p players.

if even after all of these options someone still cant kill grey zone tank, then it is skill issue.

if you want mechanic for rewarding tanks for supporting player infantry on close range, then i am for it. i am even for infantry supporting tank bonus. but i am strongly against any mechanic that punishes players cause of bad map design or players playstyle.

The greyzone deniers came out of the woodwork for this one
