How am I keep getting so many performance problems?

Yes this is a complaint, after the last update with the particle effect I keep getting different forms of serious performance issue, it started with DX12 in particular where my frame would progressively drops to 70 frames to even 50 frames while it should’ve been at the bare minimum 100 fps on my setting pre update, reaching a steady 120fps in shooting range.

So I sent the bug report exactly as guided to the support, with my dxdiag and game log attached. I then had to tuned down the setting to absolutely potato to keep playing just to avoid the problem.

Then just recently I only have my experienced worsen now, I haven’t played for like maybe 4 or 5 days recently, and when I got back today I was greeted with an absolutely ludicrous performance issue.

Something is causing unstable frame time, in a tense battle I’ll get frame time as low as 3.7ms, but as high as 30ms which is unacceptable by any standard, the entire graphics jiggles like jelly, and it literally hurt my eyes.

I’ve tried older and latest version of driver, I’ve tried fullscreen and boarderless, I’ve altered to use any of my screens, I’ve tried to tune my setting to potato and used DX11, but it’s of no help, the frame time is still ridiculous. I’ve particularly tried switching Nvidia Reflex on and of, and it didn’t help either. For god sake I’ve even tried war thunder which uses the same engine and it doesn’t post the same problem.

After a thorough check I noticed that a possible reason is that this game uses only 3.7 gigs of my VRAM (Where 8GB is available on my device) and for some reason uses 0.6-0.9 GB of the shared RAM. My PC (A laptop) is currently on the dedicated GPU mode and the intel GPU is set inactive, where there’s 0 activity on it, such that shared RAM should not be used. This could be a possible reason and it’s my best guess.

And it’s the complaint part.

It’s not my responsibility to fix your game for you, understand that it’s a mercy. Most of the players who’s disappointed doesn’t have the ability to debug or come here to the forum to discuss it in a civilized way, they’ll just leave your game quietly.

I want to get to the bottom of these problems and have the issue fixed for you because I still enjoy the game, but this is not my job, and the game at its current state is just not enjoyable for me, as problems like this happens too often and fixed too slow. My patience is unfortunately running thin with it, not to mention the current state with the frame time problem it’s just unplayable.

I don’t want to complain much else since it’ll be of no use to the game or to me. I’ll have my spec listed below:

CPU: Ultra 9 185 H
GPU: RTX 4070 Laptop 85+15W
RAM: DDR5 32G
ROM: TLC 1TB+4TB, the game runs on the 4TB drive.

try dx11 with ray tracing turned down but keep other stuff at medium to high.
I put my water graphics at medium to low since you hardly see any water in the maps except vs Japan.

I wouldnt mess with the computer’s (laptop) settings just the in game settings . For me my VRAM is actively being used around 6-7 gbs on my 4060ti on the computer not the laptop but your gpu shouldn’t be inactive when playing any video games.

Also for some laptop if its not plugged into power it sometimes forces the laptop to run at lower specs to conserve power while gaming

I also had some hard fps drops for some reason but they dissapeared after 1 game

is that 4TB drive hdd or ssd? if the drive is hdd then all performance issues could be on it.

It’s shader compilation. Especially after big updates.

Change to DX11. I have far more errors when I use DX12 then I do with DX11. In fact, I choose Auto when I am loading the game and my PC always chooses DX11.

If you updated to the latest Nvidia driver, I had problems.

Another issue I still have, there is some weird bug with the HD audio driver of the GPU (monitor HD audio), I have noticed that if I do any video on social media and then load the game, I get FPS drop issues and get some audio glitching problems. My workaround is to launch the game first thing before any web browsing. I have been trying different things and yet to fix it. I know running the game in DirectX11 is much more stable but I run 12.

not sure if that will help anyway, but just some things I noticed.

Both of them are SSD, non-QLC, and plenty of space left. Drive shouldn’t be a problem.

I needed DX12 particularly because for some reason they decided to make HDR a DX12 exclusive function. Also I’v tried potato graphic setting with DX11, it didn’t help. I could run this game on bare minimum and the frame time problem still exist when there’re destroyed vehicles.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I’ve tried hard reboot (with BIOS restart) and then launch the game before anything else, but it’s still not helping, so that wasn’t the issue for me probably.

Same old story , y are not alone in this… Do not expect any help from Gajin.
