Hotfix AI shooting at planes

I get the AI has the strategic ability of a 1-year-old. But, the standing in the open and shooting at bombers 1km away is ridiculous.

Come on.

I’ve spent hours leveling up and kitting out some decent squads and every. Single. Time. I belly crawl to a flanking position, my 7-man, cognitively challenged squad will stand up in the open, shoot at a bomber with bolt action rifles. Only to give away my position and be immediaty gunned down.

Please hotfix their priority system and remove planes from their targeting routine.

Reminds me of this, although it doesn’t look nearly as cool in-game.

If that scene was in game he would have been dead when the first bomb landed :smiley: along with the rest of the beach.

I think my squads take the short bus to battle some times

And the still alive 30% of the soldiers would stand up in 0.3 seconds. :slight_smile:

I like to imagine “what if all like 500 of those guys tried that at once?!” But I don’t know enough about bullet ballistics, guessing they wouldn’t have enough momentum to do proper damage even if they did hit.

Agreed, this is a broken system that needs attention and fixing. AI shooting at planes is useless and serves only to ruin any attempt at a flanking maneuver.

I agree, but the problem sits with them engaging enemy that are close. The solution, IMO, is a formation that commands them to hold fire.

I made a suggestion to this effect. We need a command to tell them to hold in place and hold fire, move with me but hold fire, and the normal current mode.

I totally agree, I have seen myself in situations where I order my squad to follow me, I advance towards the point and when I lose the soldier I use, I find that the rest of my squad is in the spawn 200m from where I died shooting as retards to the sky with the ammunition almost depleted, and even worse when you play as a fighter you can perfectly kill the ai with the machine guns since they reveal their position when they shoot you and the damage they do to the plane even when flying extremely low is almost nil
