I also happen to have a very similar squad

Historically accurate loadouts are fun to play with

My squads cons are the fact that it has 0 AT capabilities

I removed my explosion packs as well so i can use m24 grenades. I do have some tnt charges because i don’t like using landmines

My guys just have their Kar98k and 2 M24 grenades, like irl

It was much more fun to play with them pre merge. As you weren’t guaranteed to face full team of the high BR players.

Usually there were only 2-3 people with high BR equipment.

Now I have zero incentives to do anything HA.

I have to admit that my troops are a bit over equipped

I just don’t like having empty slots for my soldiers. Everyone has pistol, binos, flask, tnt and axe/shovel. I prefer large ammo bags over other backpack options

Most of the time these guys only fight in custom games and mods but sometimes i play real games with them. It is indeed a lot harder than pre merge. I remeber playing kar 98k, mp 40 and g43 in old normandy campaign even if i had fg 42 unlocked

Typically, Each German Rifle Squad would have At least one, but often two MP’s, one SLR, one Rifle with optics and one LMG, and at least one (or two) grenade dischargers.

FJ rifle squads would have two LMG’s, two MP’s and the rest more or less the same as above.

Late war the PF was ubiquitous, so you would find a couple on hand typically.

early war German squads were (except for Luftwaffe and fallschirmjager units) armed like on the picture:
1x Mp40 or other submachine gun (Mp35, Mp34(ö), ZK-383 ect…)
1x MG34 or sometimes other LMG (MG13, SS were often armed with ZB-26 or ZB-30)
the rest were equipped with K98K rifles (SS often had Vz24 rifles instead).
Gebirgsjager units also made significant use of G33/40 rifles.

But its true that post 1941 German squads changed radically, occupation units often had locally produced automatic weapons, semi-autos appeared (first by capturing SVT-40 rifles), SMGs started to become more common as well both by increasing MP40 production and capturing huge quantities of SMGs.
And the famous StG44´s prototypes were soon to be deployed for field testing.

Well now I have a reason to use these if I have a Gebirgsjäger squad

I think there is only gebirgsjäger squad in the game and its a premium unit of Soumi kp31 (BR5) so its not really possible unless you equip a (BR1) G33/40 on the AT gunner.

We should get a free TT one

The outline I provided based on my own research into the subject which was quite extensive is more or less true for the entire war.

For a rifle squad.

There would be exceptions to that though for example as noted FJ or PG, or SS.

There were some specialized units that would have more automatic weapons in them but they weren’t really considered rifle squads but more like assault squads.

But- the rifle with optics would be a K98, the Grenadier(s) would be using a K98…

The Germans did not separate their marksmen from a squad like the US and British did. I would not call them snipers per say, but rifles with optics.

I am a bit of a history nut myself and years ago when I started playing this game I used to be a lot more active in complaining about the inaccuracies of the game because the game is wildly unrealistic in terms of historical content So I just kind of gave up most of that commenting The game is fun to play but it’s best not to take it too seriously because it doesn’t take itself seriously.

Personally, I would prefer to remove Kar98k bayonets since they look better that way. But, each to their own. Good loadout! :de:

I don’t think I can

Very much understandable. I can say the same thing for myself when it comes to Arisaka rifles.
