Official Permanent Archives of the United States Navy, containing the 1944 deck compatibility test report for the F7F-1 conducted aboard USS Shangri-La (CV-38):
In November 1944, the F7F-1 bearing Bureau Number 80291 completed a full set of carrier takeoff and landing trials yet failed carrier qualification certification.
Original text of the test conclusion: The F7F-1 shall be restricted exclusively to land-based operations and prohibited from all shipboard deployments.
Three definitive grounds for rejection were specified: loss of directional control following single-engine failure, airframe structural tearing caused by offset stress on the Y-shaped tail hook, and landing gear structures incapable of withstanding repeated carrier landing impacts.
Yet this aircraft still spawns and takes off from aircraft carriers in-game. I also have to complain about this: Battle Rating 5 aircraft are forced to launch off carrier decks. You barely climb to 600 meters before enemy spawned fighters intercept and shoot you down. Could the devs add an airborne spawn mechanic for carrier-based aircraft? Right now carrier planes only get a minor repair buff; after repairing, we still have to taxi and take off from the carrier all over again.
Additionally, could you add two aircraft carriers to the test range? Many novice pilots desperately need a place to practice carrier landings and takeoffs. Also add a dedicated wheel brake keybind for planes, so we don’t have to taxi for excessive distances on deck.
What’s more, this aircraft is assigned to U.S. Army units in-game, which is a blatant historical inaccuracy. Not to mention the game is full of such historical errors all over the place.
pls fix them !!!
- We’re fed up with your inaction
- what ever i don’t care
