Historical fails - Incorrect Unit Allocations, Names and Uniforms

Hey Gajin,

I have noticed among all that your history research, especially for Battle of Moscow campaign is rather poor on German side!

So let’s start with the unit allocations and equipment:
34th and 8th Inf. Division have bought fought in different sectors of Barbarossa - 8th with AGN and 34th AGS, so they did not participate in BoM at all.

Furthemore - JG52 was definitely not equipped with Hs-123. The only unit that was running this ground attack biplanes on Eastern Front at that time was I.(Schl)/LG 2 that later became SchlG 1!

Also, I don’t get why you would have to choose 8. ID and then use an incorrect emblem for the division. If the styled swastika offends you, you could have chosen any other unit that actually fought in Battle for Moscow

Furthermore, I find quite weird the amount of mismatched uniforms in overall in the game - but what really makes no sense is having LW pilots wearing panzer uniforms for BoM campaign at least.

Ultimately, in brief sneak peak for BoB I noticed totally misplaced uniforms for FJG and Waffen SS soldiers. FJG are wearing autumn Waffen SS uniforms and are missing their traditional paratrooper helmets, whilst 33rd Grenadier Division, which I believe is Waffen SS Division Charlemagne, the French outfit is completely obscure (now I would really expect more historical correctness here, given the major role this reduced unit played in the BoB).

Anyway, would really love to see improvements in general in your historical department to enjoy the game much more that I currently do aside the massive grind and lack of wide research trees.

I appreciate it is beta, but you know, if history is what you recreate, at least do it with more precision!

Regards
Six

Also 503th Heavy Tank Battalion was fighting 100s of km away from Berlin during the battle. It was 503th SS Heavy Tank Bat. who fought in Berlin

Irrelevant, Gaijin aren’t the developers…
Why does nobody know this?!?

Again, irrelevant, Berlin is a play test of the maps, nothing else is remotely finished as yet. The uniforms are just copied and pasted from Normandy for the Germans.
Give them time and it will be sorted out.

Well, the fact it is developed under Gajin’s supervision and part of their grindy MMO family makes them pretty relevant. But thanks for the update. The devs don’t even have their own website.

Well, the uniforms is least of my gripe as you correctly mentioned they might be placeholder. But names of the units and the units chosen for this game surely could have been served correctly from start. Copying an insignia and name of a unit from wikipedie is not such a big deal, or is it?

Still isn’t relevant, the publisher and developer are completely different roles.
Publisher takes the product and drives the marketing, sales and general PR of a product, while the developer… develops it.

It doesn’t matter whether Darkflow are historically accurate or not, gaijin are only there to market and hype up.
