Helping the downed

the soldiers should be able to help downed troops, drag them to safety or even fireman carry them, so they aren’t helplessly on the ground awaiting to be shot, or 8 seconds of healing while praying that cheeky AI wont snipe you from 432642394620 miles away

with being able to assist the downed by carrying them to safety, the player wont have to waste their single medkit on the downed soldier, and the player can easily save a soldier that they will need.

This is a great idea.

sure.

i can see this features being really useful in my pves

and occasionally in the base game as well. though, individualism of many players along side fast ttk might not be always ideal nor often usable.

but again, why not.

From a competitive point of view, it is often not worth the time of an active player to save an AI in your squad, so it would be better to add an AI command or let AI automatically do this if the player controlled soldier or another AI is down. If the player switch to another soldier, it will automatically switch to a free solider instead of that one dragging downed soldier. If there is only one AI left, the dragging process can be interrupted by switching to that AI.

the way i see it, a useful soldier is better good alive than dead, lets say your one and only AT gunner is downed, and theres a swarm of tanks arriving, you’d rather not rely on your team to have a AT gunner, but rather yourself, so you would want to save that AT gunner at all costs so you can use him to take out tanks, and if he gets killed, then you’re pretty much screwed, and i would want to avoid this scenario, especially considering how AI aimlessly wanders around all over the place.

It could make medic squads a viable addition, AI teammates can have an algorithm similar to their built-in cover pathfinding with the addition of picking up a downed ally and dropping them at the destination, while the rest goes guns blazing against the assailant (kill-cam based, low accuracy)
