REPORT BY THE CHIEF OF THE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT OF THE SOVIET-MONGOLIAN CAVALRY-MECHANIZED GROUP STAFF TO THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE TRANSBAIKAL FRONT ON THE ENCOUNTER WITH A PARTISAN DETACHMENT OF THE 8TH ARMY OF THE CHINESE PEOPLE’S REVOLUTIONARY ARMY
23 August 1945
On 22.8.45 at 16:50 hours in Gojiatun, I met a partisan detachment of the 8th Chinese People’s Revolutionary Army numbering 150 men. The detachment commander is Colonel Shi Jiong. The detachment arrived at the aforementioned populated point on 18.8.45 to meet Red Army units. Later, it received an order from its headquarters to cut the Beijing Railway to facilitate the faster advance of the Red Army. Currently, the detachment has my order to begin linking up with units of the 8th PRA.

**LETTER FROM THE PERSONNEL OF THE 11TH REGIMENT OF THE 8TH
CHINESE PEOPLE’S REVOLUTIONARY ARMY TO THE MILITARY PERSONNEL OF THE RKKA
10 September 1945
Dear commanders and political workers of the Red Army, and all our dear brothers — Red Army soldiers! We very much hope to meet the heroic Red Army and rejoice in this. We convey to you — the heroic Red Army, which overcame difficulties, shed blood, and made sacrifices for peace throughout the world. To the Red Army, which liberated our nation from the oppression of the Japanese invaders, we send greetings and wishes for eternal good health.
I successfully downloaded the digital file, but its extension is .db, and I’m not sure how to open it. As for the historical account, I’ve heard similar versions before. For example, when Soviet forces and the Red Army first encountered each other, neither side knew who the other’s troops were. In the end, it was by singing “The Internationale” together that they dispelled mutual hostility.
Yes, I also miss the old days. Back then, extreme nationalism hadn’t dominated class consciousness, and we could still call each other brothers and comrades in communism. Unfortunately, now my side has become a combination of Brezhnevism and American-style capitalism—it’s truly sorrowful.
