Has the AI gotten even dumber?

Okay here’s the full natural English translation, keeping all your tone and frustration intact:

Tonight I was playing the event matches, and most players on both sides were fairly high-level, with real people making up most of each team.

The roadmap once promised major AI intelligence upgrades, but honestly the AI just feels more and more lifeless and underwhelming now.

For one thing, the AI can’t keep up with me at all, yet their stamina drains extremely quickly.
There were times when I’d run about ten meters ahead, get killed, and look back only to find the AI still standing motionless where they started. I end up having to constantly mark positions just to force them to move where I want them to go, which feels clunky and tedious. I already turned on the follow mode in the squad settings, but they’re still way too slow.

We all know in this game the AI are basically your backup lives. When you die, you instantly switch into another AI soldier and keep fighting.

But right now the AI always fall far behind, don’t know how to take cover on their own, and never hide behind obstacles. Whole groups of them get wiped out all at once.

Even when you mark a spot for them to move to, they’ll just stand right in your line of fire. If enemies show up at that moment, you’re basically handing them free kills.

Honestly the AI are such a hassle to deal with.

Whenever my squad runs into a Sherman, my first instinct is always to rush straight into a building for cover.
I’ll dash inside first, only for my AI teammates to refuse to follow quickly. When I switch back to check, they’re still walking slowly from way back, and their movement keeps draining stamina the whole time.

Unsurprisingly, one tank shell takes out all six of them, leaving only me alive. It’s so frustrating. The AI used to follow way better. Any real player would know how dangerous an enemy tank up close is, but the AI just stand there cluelessly.

I really wish they’d improve the AI’s reaction and follow behavior. Besides better combat awareness, they should at least react to obvious dangers automatically:
avoid areas constantly covered by heavy machine gun fire,
and immediately take cover whenever enemy tanks are nearby.

Right now playing with AI feels exactly like taking care of a bunch of kids. Every fight you have to tuck them away in some quiet corner just to keep them safe.

They also don’t stay alert at all in places that just took incoming fire.

Really the only bracket where the AI actually feel useful is BR5, since everyone there dies in just one shot anyway.

Increase the AI’s follow speed so they can fight side by side with the player.

The AI’s ability to evade danger and respond to commands should be improved.

I’ll keep saying this till the dev’s finally fix them, but the AI in this game is THE WORST AI I have ever experienced in damn near every video game I have played since the late 1970’s and the dev’s should be ashamed that this is the level of crap they put out. :man_shrugging:

They don’t follow orders, they don’t keep up, they have ZERO survival instincts, they constantly get in your way when your shooting absorbing your bullets being a shield thus protecting the enemy. The ONLY thing they are good at is DYING stupidly, which is ridiculous.

The dev’s might as well just admit they were created purely for cannon fodder, or admit that programming AI is way over their paygrade.

You’re squad AI bots have the combined IQ of a bag of wet potato’s, and I apologize if I have offended any wet potato’s.

Yup, they really need to be improved , they’re just so astronomically stupid right now it’s almost beyond comical. There’s got to be some kind of balanced middle ground between aimbot terminators doming players through bushes from across the map, and being the drooling braindead turnips that they are now. I don’t understand how they can’t even stay still in one spot when commanded, and instead constantly run out of cover, jump out of 2nd storey windows for no reason, or get stuck on something stupid like a piece of furniture in a building. I swear they weren’t this bad in the past.

Considering the matches are like 90% bot infantry, it really ruins the experience having them all use such shite AI.

Back when it first launched into open beta, the AI was pretty strong, but players didn’t like it. I think if they crank the AI up again now, most people will howl about tough bots just like they did back then, lol. As for movement, they really need to hard-lock the bots to the player’s path and make them copy the player’s maneuvers - things like climbing over obstacles and such. That would be enough.

Yeah. The AI’s aggression has already been nerfed pretty badly. I just wish they could follow closely and copy my moves quickly when taking cover and evading fire.

The game pace feels so slow now. They said they fixed the AI before, but after all these updates, every old problem is back again. All the improvements we had before are gone for good.

I don’t care if my personal squad bots ever kill anyone, I just want them to follow orders with no exception. I want them to RUN when I run, use the same entry/exit point I do, and STOP acting like they want to engage the enemy when I have ordered them to be passive. They should not be 50 or more meters behind me when I am moving from point A to point B.

The routing is pretty dumb. For example, when there are pillars, doors, or similar obstacles, it’s designed to take a long detour instead of going straight in. It also sometimes gets stuck in spots that are enclosed by furniture (creating a “hole”), or spins around in 360-degree circles like a dog.

Add to that the fact that it’s seriously gotten much worse that they don’t stay where you order them. Normally, when an objective is captured or something, I prioritize my engineers, so I move them first. I get to a safe place, mark where they should stay, and switch soldiers, only for my engineer to end up going back from where he’s supposed to be. This is why I prefer to reduce my squad to 4 or 5 soldiers

although sometimes they do save the day. If you put them in a blind spot, they can sometimes take out enemies effectively. Just today, my rifleman saved me from a guerrilla fighter while I was building a rally XD

They should really try to follow the route the player takes. So many times the AI just decides to run across miles of open terrain to get slaughtered instead of just going through the window right in front of them.
