Alright after playing the game, I feel a lot of the guns just seem out of place and thinking about it here’s why.
Bolt actions (no scope): One shot up to 288m, Usually from spawn to mid point is 120-200m, and with the map littered with cover and sight obstructions from point to point, especially in the Invasion of Normandy, the only map without this sort of constant cover from point to point is Normandy Beach, with high oversights of the area for lower and upper to fire back from ranges beyond the point most points are around 150m of each other. It is most likely the one class of gun that doesn’t need a change.
Semi-auto: Honestly they’re mostly fine, but the big issue is their range invalidates the bolt actions. Especially at 4 star (already running 4 of them) can 1 shot from 188m (so again issue, can hit from spawn to mid point and mid point to enemy spawn. But that’s the thing, with the obstructions you’re usually engaging at 0-50 or 0-100m. It honestly removes the entire point of bolt-actions once you get them. With all the clutter you’re never really picking off targets from 188m and past that.
This is where an situation arises, there is two possible solutions.
- The maps get longer + less cluttered so the bolt action can serve a purpose
- The semi-auto does less damage and becomes 2 shot at 0-50m~
Light Machine guns: They suffer from one issue, their no bipod recoil is similar to semi-auto rifles and do the same damage with better range (base lmg’s one shot from 288m~.) This invalidates the bolt action/smg/semi auto in one entire swoop when you fire them single shot, with the advantage of being able to spray entire room like an SMG, but taking them out with 1 bullet instead of 2-3.
LMG suggestions
- Hip fire accuracy of the LMG, needs to be more erratic and hard to control if not standing completely still.
- Aim Down sight accuracy worst when you’re moving (Guns like the MG42/BAR would push people back if they went full auto, with a hip fire brace. There is no way you’re going full auto with it raised up, while trying to move your legs.
- It’s damage lowered down to 8 from 0-10m but go back up for 100m than back down, but given way more clips so you’re encouraged to take a position to mount and spray from afar, but also can’t go in like an SMG and spray an entire squad, running in.
- FIX THE DAMN BIPOD/MOUNT system
**Shotguns:**They dont feel to bad, but they do feel like they can one shot from pretty far away, which has led me to just go Shotgun/Bolt action. Again maybe a range tone down as again it just feels to replace the SMG as any range an SMG would be decent you could pop 1-2 shells out faster and kill the target instantly from a good distance than an SMG (I’d say i’ve one shot people from I feel 50m away with it, possibly just need a damage range toning.
So TLDR
Bolt actions / SMG’s = Good place right now
Semi-auto rifle / LMG’s = Feel like they replace bolt actions/smg’s right now
Shotguns = Feel great, might need a smidge of a range nerf to not overpower the SMG for assault classes.

Making LMGs more bulky should help.
Things like hitting obstacles with your gun, long ADS time or even big momentum of the gun so you can’t instantly turn and shoot.

Semi-autos already have less effective range than bolt actions. For some reasons, considering they shouldn’t due to the fact that they oftentimes, if not always, the two fire the same ammunition out of comparable barrels.
LMGs need a rework, but hitting the BAR with the same rework as the MG34/42 would make an already meme gun even worse.
Shotguns are fine. They are shotguns. Fired at completely unarmoured soldiers. They already have less effective range than they should.

Look at a scoped Kar 98’s damage and a non-scoped Kar 98
Look at the MG42 attached to a tank / plane or premounted onto the map = 3-4 bullet kill, The second an infantry carries it MG42 a person holds = 1 bullet kill
Ehm, that was their purpose IRL. Eventually all armies switched to semi auto then fully automatic rifles.

True but I mean, the fun part of a game is to give weapons uses. Not make every gun replaced with the next one. Like the german line up is

Bolt actions already have a use.
Better damage at long range and more consistent kills (as opposed to downs only) at close range.
And… Yes. Literally yes. That’d be like asking a biplane to be competitive with a late-war monoplane. Some things are just better.

Bolt actions when you put a magical scope, that makes the bullet travel further better. As Germans, British, Russian, and the Nazi’s had magic scopes that made bullets do more damage at further ranges.

Everyone can and should upgrade to semi autos. They shouldnt be nerfed to make bolt actions niche as bolt actions should be replaced by better weapons. I agree with the MGs but they need to fix the bipod/mount thing first and take into account not all MGs are as heavy as others
I think they just need a range nerf, just like the shotgun which can just snipe people. Maybe it’s just the winchester model 1912. But you can just pick people off if you can see their center of mass from 100m away as it still hits for 64.8 if every pellet hits (compared to the sniper which is 14.)
Shotguns are pretty niche as it is. I actually ditched all mine and went back to the grease gun because of the lack of lethality at range vs round count. Maybe if I fire all 6 shotgun shells off on one target I could see it working over range but then you will be out of ammo very fast.
Really underestimating, just have to iron sight for long range targets, can just pick people in one shot. from 0-150m. Hard to do with the american shotgun and it’s sights though. I have a bit of both because for some reason shotgun AI, is just silly sniper AI as they dont seem to miss.

LMGs, at least the ones I have tried, already have stupid spray (even when setup)which makes single shots stupidly inaccurate at medium range. I agree that on the move they should be more bulky though (more momentum, harder to snap left and right)
Shotguns IRL do actually hurt from much further than most video games show. They are pretty fine.
FG-42 was never used anyone else but paratroopers and it should be so in game. Supposedly only 200 ever saw combat!
It works, but i guess with 6 shots and being able to kill multiple people cluttered together if you aim in-between, and fast re-fire. Thing is as pointed out this game throws realism out the window.
Unless Germany/USA/Brit/Russia, had magical scopes that made bullets damage more consistent and lethal at 1000m, but the second you take them off the bullets are no longer enchanted.
Or the enemy tanks where cursed by shamans to make it so any machine gun put inside of a tank or set on the ground in a bunker on top of sand bags takes 2-4 shots to kill. But if you have one in your hand it becomes a 1 shot machine.
I think the issue is sub 100m each pellet does absurd damage, only really needing 2 to connect to take them out. It has a very tight spread. I’ve picked up triple kills time to time at firing from afar
The what now? You can one shot kill enemies with the emplaced MG’s by tapping the fire button once. Same with Tank mounted MG’s. Plus those have negligible recoil and spread even at long ranges.
Are you sure you’re not exaggerating even a little bit?
unless it’s a head shot it’s usually 2-3 shots due to the range, find the mg 42 can take four shots. Only the top mounted 12.7 can one shot up close but you have to have your commander be vulnerable, which isn’t worth losing a crew member.
But again, technically it should be a 1 shot up to 300M + if it’s an lmg
I do agree though that if a weapon shoots rifle “boolets” it should hit as hard a rifle, regardless if it shoots fully auto, semi or it’s muzzle loaded. The difference between bolt action, semi auto rifles and MG’s is about 2-4 points of damage.
However only now I noticed how drastic the damage falloff is with range. 1.3 at 1km? I seriously doubt you’d stop a 7.92mm bullet by headbutting it as it approaches you.
BAR’s are god tier weapons with next to no recoil. They need nerfs.
