Grenade launchers were not some typical gadget handed out to every Infantryman. They were special equipment given to designated Grenadiers. Grenade launchers should finally be placed where they belong and given to a new Grenadier class and squad, being removed from the Riflemen class. This means firearms with grenade attachments and grenade launchers. The Grenadier squad would have the most amount of Grenadiers and Grenadiers would be an upgrade for various squads to add the class to their ranks

Most countries typically had at least 1 Grenadier in an Infantry squad but occasionally there would be more. 2, 3, maybe more. For particular missions that needed a lot of firepower ad hoc units could have been armed with even more grenade launchers. Like with most things the USSR went above and beyond and in the interwar and early war period they had Grenade Sections armed with over 8 grenade launchers! Yes 8 grenade launchers! While most countries used grenade launchers as fire support for an infantry squad, the Red Army Grenade Sections were meant for mass volleys of grenades. The Red Army was in a chaotic state in the early war period with erratic reorganizations and the German invasion causing even more dire chaos, these Grenade Sections were often under strength and used limitedly, being officially removed from the Red Army in 1942.
So now the question is how many Grenadiers should the Grenadier Squad have. 2? 3 like most specialists? A few more? 8 to respect the unique and short lived Soviet Grenade Sections!?! More!?!
Well, I think this kind of division is like a waste. It’s just like the difference between an armored vehicle driver and an armored soldier. You just need to buy one for the driver, and it has no other use. I think it would be better to directly limit the number of rifle-mounted grenade launchers in the nine-person squad. This way, there’s no need to create a new single type of soldier just because of the restrictions on the rifle-mounted grenade launchers, and the same goes for the spray and flame monkeys. They are too mindless. If the number is limited now, maybe the damage can be adjusted back.
But there is no way to limit Rifle grenades/ grenade launchers because they are just another gun. It’s just like if you want to give your Riflemen bolt-actions or semi-autos or automatic rifles. They are currently just another member of the rifle family
The only way to limit them is by making them an entirely new class, the same if you want to add a MG or Engineer or Sniper to your squad
If I want to impose restrictions, it depends on whether DF is willing to put in the effort. They can simply modify the code and set a limit within the squad, such as not allowing each squad member to carry more than five weapons. I’ve watched previous videos where each member of a nine-man infantry squad was holding two rifle grenades. That was really an unfair situation. So, the overall environment has led to this being banned, but it has also made this weapon useless.
