I think the grenade throwing animation in Enlisted could really benefit from a visual rework to make combat feel more immersive and fluid.
Suggested Improvements
- Add smoother transitions between:
- taking out the grenade,
- pulling the pin,
- aiming,
- throwing,
- returning to the weapon.
- Make the arm and body movement feel more natural:
- different animations while standing, crouching, or prone,
- separate short and long throw motions,
- slight body momentum during the throw.
- Add contextual animations:
- quick panic throws under fire,
- throwing from cover or windows,
- dedicated grenade βcookingβ animation.
- Improve visual feedback:
- better hand-to-grenade synchronization,
- clearer throw trajectory readability,
- smoother weapon recovery animation afterward.
- Add faction-specific flavor:
- more aggressive Soviet-style throws,
- more disciplined German animations,
- different handling styles depending on grenade type.
- Reduce the robotic feeling:
- subtle camera movement,
- small animation variations,
- more shoulder and torso motion.
A reworked grenade animation system would improve immersion and make close-quarters combat feel more dynamic without affecting balance.
Games like:
- Hell Let Loose
- Red Orchestra 2
- Battlefield V
already have more weighty and believable grenade throw animations that could serve as inspiration.
