Band of Brothers the Pacific (Remarkarkle long format how I recognized Alligator Bay)
The longest day, Old school completely silly with really old guys(thumbnail says it all) playing what would me men in the early 20’s but still a Golden Oldy
Saving Private Ryan, the catalyst for people to become more interested in WW2
Fury, Enemy at the gates, Thin red line, Flags of our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima all great films but the ones above are “extra”
Non Enlisted related but I can watch this one any day of the week.
Bridge over the river Kwai
One that I call complete garbage because I literally lived 150m from it when I lived in Kanchanburi Thailand. The real bridge was on the Kwai Noi Yai, south of town and not made out of bamboo. I loved living in that part of Thailand but it had a very dark history. They talk about the allies who died 100K SE Asian non Thais died building it as well. My landlady was a child when it went down and she HATES Japanese, every year they have a weeks long festival It was lovely fireworks from my front door every night. But that bridge a lie!
One of the things LEGO said they would never do is WAR figures. This would have been even better with lego brick carnage. I looked at some of the other videos wow they really made a lot of these. You could stich together a mock TV docuseries with all that content.
And because of your search I also searched, some cool LEGO movies. The trailer does not help that movie. It felt a bit like modern BBC but missing the African lady as the captain and all the soldiers being South Asian, Far East and Inuit/ Comandos Video game the movie. HD really makes it tough to do accurate media anymore. War is messy, chaotic mess that is hard to replicate. CGI makes things shiny dirty.
there’s “A bridge too far”, for Commonwealth loving, about the failure of Market Garden,
and I just seen @OggeKing posted about it. Well, he has great taste.
“The canons of Navarone” I really liked. the operation itself is fictional, but based on real ones, by the SAS commandos.
And of course, “The Great Escape”. it’s not about battle but PoW, with real legends of the cinema… and one of the most, if not THE most epic motorcycle chase scene ever made. That will never be beaten as nowadays it’s CGI or worse, upcoming AI. A must see.
…
Special mention, a true GEM of cinematography, but not about ww2, ww1. Lawrence of Arabia. There’s a reason it won 7 Oscars back in the day. You see this for your culture, war film loving or not.
