I have had the chance to use Starlink in addition to my usual 1g Fiber this past week. I noticed most of my game lag was mostly caused by connection to the net. Starlink was running at 400MB/s and still not able to run Directx12. Did 11x just fine. 12x performs well with 1g connection.
So bottom line, before you go chasing drivers and settings, know that you need a really good connection to run DirectX12. I think I got caught up in changing settings that were not necessary.
I’m currently using Starlink at my new house while I wait for fibre to be installed. I’m using their 100Mbps service and have no issues at all with the connection. Latency is ~25ms. And I run DX12 at high-very high settings.
I used to have starlink, worked okay regardless of which DX version I used, since your internet connection has nothing to do with game performance. Internet lag ≠ hardware lag
those 2 things should not be connected at all. directx 11 or 12 is just API for game to call and should have nothing to do with network. directx 12 is based on low level programming API which should in theory have lower driver cost translating in better performance if done correctly in game engine(if not done correctly it will have ~same or worse performance compared to dx11).
latency doesnt equal stability. you can have 10ms latency, but lose 10% of network packages making for shitty connection.
I know that the only thing I changed was connections back and forth. I had lag in the starlink connection despite all the tech theories! lol … I have a very fast upload/download fiber.
satellite connection is actually pretty shitty connection for gaming cause it can be disrupted by various EMF signals. i would test your connection over longer period of time with ping command. just open cmd in windows and type “ping www.google.com /n 10000”. check minimum, maximum and average latency and package loss. although this will probably not tell you much cause satellite connection is fickle and depends on multiple things that may be ok at time of measurement(e.g. clear weather) and bad at other times.
I would have pretty impressive ping for a satellite connection, but it would be very inconsistent. Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do. Starlink is great as a backup connection, but realistically it should never be your primary.
Nvidia just released a new Geoforce driver (March 2, 2026). Guess I will be the Guinea pig.
Edit : new driver locked up enlisted. Back to Sept 2025 driver …
If your game is lagging, it’s not a hardware issue, but a network speed issue. High network latency will directly cause lag, and in severe cases, it will cause you to be disconnected. If the game cannot run at all, then it’s a hardware problem, especially a low-end processor and graphics card, which will cause the game graphics to malfunction or not run properly.
the directx 12 function has always been broken as far as I’m concerned unfortunately, today after 2/3 games you play you will notice that your textures will drop to low resolution as well as the mini map and the soldiers’ clothes moreover always in directx 12 you have a crazy stutter and a random frame drop quite horrendous today playing in directx 11 is the best way, ps: the connection has absolutely nothing to do with the graphics and the directx version of the game I’m surprised that you are discussing it, I was also wondering why a patch wasn’t released that solved the problem since I would like to play it to activate ray tracing but no, they do the usual events with Chinese teams that no one asked for…ok
