He is from VDV, elite russian paratroopers, and this is part of his training.
You see, when you put a jeep in a cargo bay of a plane (to parachute it into the battlefield) you can save a lot of time by dropping it with paratroopers already inside. The problem is the limited height of the plane, that’s why jeeps have foldable windshields. So soldiers in the jeep have to fold their necks to decrease their height and make it possible to board the plane.
