Give the Stug 3 G a machine gun

Wow, that’s awesome! You even know this stuff! So when the late-model StuG III G fitted with the 105mm howitzer gets added in the future, can we ask for it to be equipped with a coaxial machine gun?

Honestly, I really hope this vehicle gets added to TT just like the 105mm Sherman.

two minor corrections:
StuG with 105mm howitzer cannon is called StuH 42 G.
The StuH 42 model present in War Thunder and Enlisted´s game files is an early model.

But yes, it is possible to give the StuH 42 model we have in game files a MG34 coaxial machine gun.

Huh, you seem to know your stuff

Do you happen to know if the trapezoidal StuG 3 G mantlet is 50mm or 80mm? Because I’ve seen depictions in games with 80mms and I’m wondering which is correct

Hahaha totally agree.

The Sd.Kfz.9 in War Thunder isn’t fitted with any MG, yet Enlisted added machine guns to it as well as various APCs, all done by DF.

I guess we might have to wait ages for adjustments like these.

If they split vehicles into early and late variants, players who own the early StuG III without machine guns will definitely get the short end of the stick. WT may later make new models and label them late-production versions down the line, but I really don’t want DF to just rest on their laurels.

Main reason why German vehicles sticked with 50mm armour for a while was the limitation of the machinery.
take a look at: a StuG F with one piece 50mm frontal and a StuG G early with 50mm armour and 30mm bolted on it.

alternatively, the armour could also be welded on instead bolted, but that took more time and tools…
later StuG models would adopt one piece 80mm armour, but not all!

It can be a little tricky to tell, but since we basically never see armour bolted or welded on the gun mantlet, we can assume that its only 50mm armour.
Unless some were produced with one piece 80mm armour plate before production switched to rounded gun mantlet. But to tell that, you would need to measure a lot of armour plates.
Maybe there is a historian who did that, but thats beyond my knowledge on the matter.

The StuG IV I have personally sat inside and been around had an MG42 mounted on top with a remote/mechanical aiming device. It was very cool, I’ll find a photo and post it.

One little issue: we dont have it in WT. It was “leaked” that it will added (eventually…), lets hope it turns out to be true.

So in like 5 or 10 years

StuG IV was promised back in 2013… (yep, when ground mode was being tested/WiP developed)
Now the real question is, which one will be out first, GTA VI or StuG IV?

I’ll be dead, so who knows

Oh! So are there any historical records or photos showing that the StuG III Ausf. A and Ausf. F were fitted with machine guns?

Let’s stay optimistic and say three years, haha.

to give a short answer: no, Im not aware of any StuG A or F having such a modification.
