the thing is super standard SMG, it’s like FN-4B but higher fire rate just that’s it, it has standard damage 5.7, standard recoil (practically worse than MP35 tho), etc etc but the ammo is only 40/80 it’s too few while FN-4B is 40/160 and that’s twice the M38,
while Thomson is 30/90 that’s 120 in total but it has higher damage output 6.8 and PPsh is standard too but the fire rate is so high and has more ammo per magazine
increase the magazine to 40/160 or at least 40/120 to compete with allies
Ammo in general is too sparce. I highly doubt soldiers were carrying just two spare magazines into combat, 4-8 sounds more fair depending on size but I am not that knowledgeable about WW2 vests and how much you could fit in them.
I wouldn’t mind the m38 to receive an extra mag. Because I’m selfish and I don’t want the devs to REMOVE one of my ppsh magazine instead. Sometimes it’s great to just spray without any concern for ammunition.
The total ammunition of the types of weapons should be the same for all so there would be no problems, so we could increase them as desired with ammopouch
I’d go for “add an extra for the 20% that are missing one”. There would be much less complaint this way.
(Devs, don’t you dare touch my ppsh.) It would be fun if the pps43 got an extra mag. I might end up using it again, it’s a fun and very good smg.
Yes WW2 soldiers carried more ammo - but then they also didn’t have handy boxes of ammo lying around the battlefield buyilt by their team to replenish from!!
We do know, for example, that British riflemen carried 50 rounds for their .303’s, plus 2 magazines for the bBren gun, and 50 more rounds in clips for hte Bren.
Section commanders with Sten guns carried 160 rounds - 5 magazines of 32 each.
In total a section of 10 men had an authorised ammo supply of 1000 rounds for the bren, 400 for the rifles, and 160 for the Sten.
