Something a bit less fragile than the A6M2 would be nice. Looking at Wikipedia the Nakajima Ki-43 or Ki-44 might serve. The Zero just disintegrates when a p38 LOOKS at it. While we’re on the subject, why ARE those things so hard to kill, sometimes?
I don’t know, killing them is easy.
The problem is that you can’t intercept them, the Japanese air force doesn’t support the team - they take off, then fly at low speeds.
The appearance of sea planes should have a choice - sky or ship.
A: Zero is very fragile
B: 20mm
C: MERICA!
D: So it’s a heavy fighter plane. It’s an interceptor. It’s made to look at something as heavy as a bomber and delete it while withstanding damage and having power to boot (turbochargers anyone?)
Sucker has 2 engines, .50’s complimented by 20mm, and is hard to snipe the pilot out of. Not to mention plenty of empty space for your shots to zip harmlessly through
Yeah, it’s gonna shred your agile little Zero. Yeah, it’s gonna take some hits and ask for more. That’s what it’s built to do
You can understand it as
Japan didn’t know what it was doing back then
Think about those infantry weapons and vehicles
Few can compete with the US military
This is just restoring historical facts.
Now the game has to come up with a bunch of prototypes to help them
in addition
The Zero’s turning ability is very strong
There are also 2 20MM machine guns
It’s not a problem to beat the P38 in the slalom
That’s not the solution to it, the US air spawn needs to be moved back. I think that’s a topic that deserves its own post, and you have a good point with the problem you’re outlining.
Japan has plenty of low BR ground based planes that could fill the spot opposite the p-38 and with a decent flavour!
Ki-45 is really agile and comes with many different cannons. 57mm would be fun

This is why the Zero will always be a favorite. If you can master the flaps, you can really whip that thing
