Engineers are already a vital support class, providing rally points, fortifications, and battlefield utility. However, when it comes to arming or disarming explosive objectives, Engineers currently have no advantage compared to regular infantry — even though this is exactly the type of technical, specialized battlefield task they would realistically excel at.
Giving a speed boost for arming and disarming does not favor either attacker or defender. They both benefit.
Why This Helps
Gives Engineers another meaningful battlefield role
Encourages teamplay and class identity
Fits realism — Engineers would logically be best at this task
Improves objective-focused gameplay
Rewards players for choosing support instead of only combat classes
This change does not provide unfair combat advantage — it simply makes Engineers better at a job they should logically already be best at.
Stuff like this is why a sapper class should be added. Engineers are already the strongest class in the game, so giving them more to do just doesn’t really make sense.
more points for building assists. currently get 0 points when a tank shell hits your well placed hedgehog. And only 6 for barbed wire when youve laid a row of three inside a capture point house with two or three hedgehogs outside the door of the point. all time consuming and all invaluable. can win a battle and yet you finsih in the bottom few players because youve spent the whole battle spawning squads with engineers in to fortify the point. often if it is a hard battle the enemy is on top of the point and killing the engineers. but i persist because engineering is essential. more points for engineers.
Also, when dismantling hedgehogs etc. engineers should do this a little faster than other soldiers.
they are not well briefed special units. front line of battle assault teams. if the assault included engineer work at the other end then they would take an engineer. if your engineer dies, then an assaulter would have to do it…i dont think they have the same engineering ability as an engineer?
