Or at least give them something to do with the radio man. I’m tired of having to wait for someone else to finish their strike. Add in smoke or flares.
Would have been 1000000x time better to limit the Artillery Squads to 2 per team like tanks instead of how it is. Now its just useless squad.
I mean, it wasn’t that long ago that everyone on a team could fire artillery at once, and radio squads could call in artillery strikes every 30 seconds. I really don’t want to think about what a full team hitting the transport convoy invasion point in the moscow campaign, which has no horizontal cover to hide under, with an artillery strike every 3 seconds could do. Even if you raise that time to every 6 seconds, as it would be with the current 60 second cooldown, I’m still fairly confident a well coordinated team could defend that point from across the map long enough for it to be a viable tactic, which is… not ideal.
Basically the issue is that the more artillery strikes that are allowed to happen concurrently, especially if they are allowed to be close to or on top of eachother, the closer it gets to “This area is totally inaccesable” instead of just “Temporarily seek shelter/avoid this area”, since you could stagger the heavy parts of the barrage together.
Frankly what I want is to just have a countdown to when the friendly artillery barrage will stop, so I know how long I need to keep the radio guys alive for, and for the artillery squad to offer more than strictly “use the artillery more often”. The inclusion of smoke artillery is I think a really positive move in that direction, and I’m looking forward to trying it out.

I agree that he former artillery spam was pretty bad - artillery squad now is just another infantry squad with a special ability, and is fine.
I worry that smoke will be far too powerful a weapon for attackers tho.
Some guy wants to play artillery tic-tac-toe and connect-4 like we have in the past.

ah the “golden age” of enlisted yes…a lagfest of incessant artillery covering the entire map and beyond. Mortars with unlimited ammo able to do do precision strike and bloody immortal bomber an CAS (this thing is still ongoing expecially in normandy since, hey everybody complain about planes, that means we did a good thing. Lets not fix it) bombing the entire map with NUKE every 10 sec.
It made the start of Invasion matches more historically accurate, with a massive bombardment to precede the attack.
Maybe allow only 2 at once? IDK I kinda miss it.
same, just played 3hrs. was so boring. at least have 2 artillery squads per team that can do at same time strikes but have to wait minute or 45 seconds when maxed out.
because as it is… its just so boring… you can ruin single combat all you like with high realism and bla but troops is for some nice action feeling best… but its just so boring. I think if the Update is also shit, that big one, I just uninstall this shit.
