Something ive been thinking about. Why doesnt enlisted have maps that are just random open terrain or landscapes? For instance generic maps of forests, plains, desert or rolling hills.
Enlisted has something unique not alot of shooters have. The ability to dig trenches. Have large maps of just terrain, dont neee to have towns, villages or cities on the map. Just general open large terrain with stratrgic points on the map.
Defending team has to make fortifications instead of having them premade. This dig trench networks, put sandbags and wire down. Could even give the defender a few minutes at the start to dig into a position on the front if the devs wanted the defenders to dig in.
Just an idea. I know the map selection is a bit lacking. So just beef up those numbers with generic terrain maps like warthunder has. Give people the opportunity to maneuver.
- Yes to open landscape maps
- No to open landscape maps

No because, tank, planes, artillery

The majority of players are too lazy to take ten seconds to build a rally point—and you think they’d construct trenches and other fortifications?

No, not because HE… but because I like urban maps due to my playstyle.

Also generally battles aren’t fought in generic empty landscapes, they’re fought over strategic positions, cities, depots etc etc

I love urban combat as well, just think some more variety would be good. Not every battles over a major urban center.
The point im trying to ultimately make is more maps are needed!

I agree more maps, but this idea, sorry no.
Others have already outlined some of the potential issues.
I HATE maps like Mozdok, Fire Arc and Maginot Line in War Thunder which are bad enough in tanks (generic open maps with little to no cover) it would be even worse with infantry.
I also have actually asked the devs (though received no answer) as to why most new maps are generic when there are various real battles and locations that can be made?
Berlin is cool because I looked on Google and can recognise various landmarks from historical and current pictures, even the placement of some tank hulks.
Whereas Tunisia, Pacific and others get all these generic maps which is very disappointing in my opinion when we could, and should be getting things like:
Tobruk
El Alamein
Henderson Field
Kokoda Track (New Guinea)
Rabaul (New Guinea)
Likewise urban maps we get copy paste French buildings instead of actual French towns or villages, or the Netherlands or Germany itself.
Point being, I dont want more generic copy paste asset maps (cough Far Eastern Front cough), I want actual WWII battles and locations.

I agree, the battle of Kursk and Russian Stepps would be great!
In the past, on a Kursk custom map, I experienced an extremely open flat plain, but there are two problems.
-
Tanks become extremely powerful. As a result, if there are no players who can properly handle
tanks or aircraft, the match tends to become one-sided.
-
It’s difficult to reach the objectives. It would be ideal if there were dedicated players who dig trenches, use smoke barrages, and gradually advance on the enemy, but 90% of players just lie down with a sniper rifle.
However, I strongly wish to play maps like this.
