I was really keen and followed this game back when it was first announced but after finally playing, I’m not really enjoying the game and I think what I state below will make the game a better and more polished experience.
Ease of access and ui
-
A steam release: Unless some serious marketing happens that grabs players, the best way to get people to jump is to put the game on steam.
-
More server regions: Many players want to be able to play at good ping as lag is one of the key things in frustration and unenjoyment in multiplayer. Would very much appreciate an oceanic server personally
-
Queue for multiple campaigns: allowing us to queue for multiple campaigns can can be convenient and would work well with a faction based progression system
-
An easier ui: The ui is very intimidating and confusing, i think it’s very off putting to new users. It’s very cluttered and requires a lot of messing around.
PROGRESSION
-
The grind: I know it’s a f2p game but the grind is too much, I don’t think you should have to grind out the same faction again on each campaign. Also this new thing with the Stalingrad campaign isn’t a good idea.
-
Faction based progression?: More campaigns is only going to split the player base more and increase queue times. Rather than progression being tied to each faction in each campaign, why not make the progression just faction based?
-
Stats: what’s the point of tracking a players kd if your ai squad death’s counts towards it. I think there that the stats should reflect what the scoreboard shows in game or should be removed all together.
GRAPHICS
-
Allow max fov to be 120
-
The game is very blurry. Seems like there is some glare and depth of field effects, so allow us to disable all blur related options
-
More anti aliasing options and if possible a setting to turn it off (many games force aa now to properly render so i’m assuming it is the same case)
GAME PLAY
Movement and Animations:
-
Need animations for steering vehicles such as the jeeps and planes
-
I think movement imo is too slow, i want to be able to gun it across a field rather than just slog along
-
Movement feels unnatural. I understand it’s more of a slower paced game but movement just feels very clunky and janky
-
Animations are janky and unpolished.
-
The sprint animations is a weird sway
-
The animation in which your soldier runs is very bland and basic, they sort of just sway
-
Vaulting animations are ok but it is a bit weightless
-
Weapon reloads are hit and miss. I think the bolt action animations are great but animations for all the other weapon types are very jank and repetitious. Very reminiscent of old games from the 2000’s
So making the movement less janky and making more varied and realistic animations for the player and weapons will make a better experience. Hell let loose, post scriptum and battlefield 5 are good references to look at when it comes to animations and movement.
Shooting:
-
A Lot of my criticisms of the shooting are mainly due to the animations stated above. I think all the recoil and spread, bullet speed is fine, it’s just the animations of them mixed in with the weird movement. However the weapons do feel a bit weightless and paperish even with current recoil implementation.
-
Even though there are many different weapons they still all feel the same.
A recent video shows some changes which is a good sign but i think there is more work to be done
Audio:
-
Would be nice to have some punchier audio for the weapons. Making all the guns sound different and or like what they would in real life.
-
The voice lines are really cheesy, i think we need more serious battle cries and voices, similar to battlefield 1
-
There doesn’t seem to be much if any proper positional audio when it comes to foot steps. It’s not a game that really absolutely needs it but its definitely helpful and good for the close quarters fight’s in buildings
I don’t know if many of these changes are possible, the engine looks and runs great but obviously wasn’t built for infantry initially. i want this game to succeed be something that can be enjoyed by everyone.
