The G.55 Serie 0 is an italian fighter that was the pre-production model of the G.55 line of fighter planes. This plane is good, but it isn’t really at thee right BR, but that’s a different suggestion entirely. The focus of this suggestion is on the G.55 Serie 1, the first production version of the G.55 line. There were a few main differences between the pre-production and production models, the main 2 being the power of the engine and the armament. The Serie 0 has an engine that is 638 Kph fast, whereas the Serie 1 has a slightly more powerful engine with 8 more kph at 646 Kph, which won’t be very distinguishable in game, but an advantage nonetheless. The more exciting of the upgrades, however, lies in the armament of the plane. Instead of having only one 20mm cannon and four 12.7mm machine guns on the Serie 0, the Serie 1 replaces two of the 12.7mm machine guns for 20mm cannons, which massively increases its effectiveness against planes. The plane keeps the rather small bomb load shared on the Serie 0 consisting of two 100 kg bombs. I think this plane should be BR4 or even BR3, since in comparison to the P51 and Ki-100, it has similar flight characteristics and slightly better guns, but has much weaker bombs, dual 100kgs against dual 250 kg (500 lb) bombs is a very noticeable difference. I don’t know if this would be fine in BR3 or not since plane BRs are really wack as of late, so I ask the resident aircraft expert @Myrm1don on his opinion. Either way, I think this would be a good addition to the Axis TT after getting more filler (or nothing at all, with this last ‘major’ update) as of late, and would be the first new piece of researchable Italian equipment since all the way back from the High caliber update with, slightly ironically, the G.55 Serie 0, which was all the way back in December 2022
hell yeah!
This is probably one of my favorite planes to fly!!! I love how it looks, I love how it flies. And it is well armed!
really nice!
Before Jets I would have said BR 5.
But with jets I think most props High BR props could be BR 4 (K-4, La-7, Corsair, Ki-84 co, Spitfire Mk IX etc etc). With 5 BRs, aircraft are rather compressed. I would feel pretty good about fighting against, or being in any of those planes against each other.
BR 4 has been a very “nothing” BR for most nations
The Fiat G.55 Serie 0 that’s already in game I believe to be more of a BR 3 plane as its the entry level for the Fiats series. (and it used to be opposite the Spitfire Mk VC/trop in Tunisia which has no trouble with it and is BR 2)
…oh and with BR ±0
while I was playing around learning with Video editors, This was the first Plane I tried to make a video of lol. I love it
Another Variant of the G.55 that rocks
This plane is just so pretty.
And really, there’s no reason NOT to add it (other than popovs complaining it’s too strong). I recently received my Canadian Spitfire IX, a flying God (at br2 to boot, looool!!!) So axis could get another nice plane to dogfight a lil.
Italians might get a bad wrap. but man some of the stuff they made…gorgeous
there is speculation this might have been one of the better fighters in the war
Yeah, I read something a bit ago about how Germany did an analysis of the G.55 and compared it to BF 109s and FW 190s, and it was deemed the best Axis fighter, or something like that
It’s a very good plane but enlisted has messed up plane BR so much with jets and Spitfire MkIX. 2x100 kg is just not enough for BR3+, and I don’t want see another plane facing the same end as Bf109G6/G10/G14, La7, Ki61. The added firepower and maneuverability is just not as significant as payload and speed in enlisted. Air superiority is mostly pointless because anyone can hop in a plane at any time.
