It provokes me to see pilots, good bad & ugly, consistently scoring 1st place in every game where somebody calls a bombing run.
I suggest to reward people less for this passive, noninteractive, and usually unhelpful gameplay style. I’m not saying to remove the score for doing it, but it shouldn’t beat out every other activity in the game by orders of magnitude. Especially since it’s so easy.
I suggest only reduce the score AFTER the bombers released their bombs. It’s important to take them out before the attack, and it gives another reason to use planes (instead of tank spam). Those bombs may can be dodged in cover, but they clearing out important fortifications and pinning down the whole team wich does make them/us suffer manpower in certain game modes. The bombers also keeping enemy planes occupied so they cant support the ground forces meanwhile. They worth every score before their bombing only afterwards counting less.
Bomber raids can absolutely decimate a teams chances of winning if used correctly. For that reason shooting them down BEFORE the bombs drop should give the Pre-nerf amount, after the drop they should be worth less.
I agree that they should be worth much less after the drop (virtually nothing), but they should also be worth less than they are now before the drop, it is still too rewarding
there are times when the bomb drops do absolutely nothing because the players know how to take cover and protect their squads, sometimes the area of battle has moved on and the bomb area has nobody there anymore because the action moved on past that before they arrived
so rewarding a player to first place for removing a non threat is a total joke
especially if they repeatedly do it and the opposing team radio callers don’t catch on that they are being wiped before arrival
There is more than just the score obtained from kills.
They absolutely decimate cover over a large area. Though you may not get points for this, you definitely can feel a HUGE difference before and after the bombs hit. The less cover means the more you are going to get hit moving through that area.
THAT is where their real potential lies, and why they should be highly valued to take down.
they should be a target to take down, but not rewarding to the point where they alone account for massive xp for a player and put them to the top of the leaderboard just for doing that
As far as I see, the amount of potential points they are keeping from enemies (due to soldiers killed out in the open lacking cover), it seems pretty balanced to me. Besides, if they are focusing on keeping the skies clear and the cover intact, they aren’t spending time killing soldiers in the standard manner. They get their points for supporting the other players.
