You can 100% spray and pray with MPs.
And not burn through the entirety of your ammo in the process.

Actually, they can lead to different play styles. I find the PPDs much better for defending tight cap points. Especially in conquest mode. With MPs, it’s better to seek out enemy after you cap a point inorder to avoid a close confrontation, unless you can cover and fire.
PPDs in invasion is much better for the defensive role and is much more effective when you try to defend the area in and immediately around it. With MPs it’s always better to take out approaching enemies.
MPs are better for attacking in invasion as you can take down enemies much easier while approaching a point. That’s sort of difficult with PPDs. Although, since the recoil update, it can serve that purpose decent enough.
Many of the current rebalance thread wouldn’t exist if players understood the role of each of these SMGs. Also, gotta agree with TCat. Soviets do get a better variety of SMGs even though one of it is paid.
