Funding and Development Focus

I am probably one of the least qualified to make a post like this, but I’m kinda sorta being pressured to so here we go. It seems that the developers have put a lot of focus on how the game merely looks. Doing a lot of graphic work with noticeably less content and functionality work as time goes on. Sure, it’s cool that the tank treads will visually be accurate to real life, but I would’ve much rather seen those resources poured into making them function accurate to real life. Traction, either crawling over or being about to crawl out of trenches, etc
Obviously, the teams (or person) that work on these things are entirely separate. The graphics team isn’t the coding team…I hope. So it’s kinda stupid to say “why are you focusing so much on this? Just do this other thing instead.” However, I think that something can be done. Hire more people to work on the content and functionality of things. Get more people working so things can be made either a little bit faster, or, more preferably, a little bit better. More original assets, less bugs being introduced with new content, etc

Now obviously, I also don’t know DF’s financial status. Floating, sinking, flying, I don’t know. I do know that there’s a lot of people giving them money, and that they got Gaijin on their side. So maybe there’s some leeway in the budget for some more staffing. Or, maybe not. I don’t know. I’m just trying to think of something that isn’t “DF bad” or “tell the graphics team to work on something else” and this is what I got

Anyways, blame everyone’s favorite feathered creature for this. Lol

No. I’m saying maybe they’d benefit from putting more funding towards content and functionality than they do now

Well I think a nice solution that could be found is turning to the modding community. Maybe something like the WT creator program where they could make models or etc, and in turn have the chance to be paid for their work. Like say 10% sales from a new premium squad if they modelled all that, or perhaps for more feature based work, have a set commission available.

ofc this is a very rough idea and needs to be properly thought out and detailed at large first.

Wouldn’t be a bad idea. Allowing the community to help make some stuff. Say use some of the historical skins for GOV’s and whatnot

Personally I’d just like them to be functional, at the bare minimum, and not get stuck constantly, even if not realistic. But yeah I get what you mean realistic vehicle performance would be much better than what we have now.

well, not quite.

different teams do different things.

you can’t really expect the visual team to get their work delayed or halt their work just because individuals thinks other pressing matters should be the priority.

just like you can’t expect someone that does graphic or physic related " things " to all of a sudden, read data and fix the various issues with weapons, starts doing animations or do anything else.
that’s not how it works.

The community mod idea is great. For myself all I want is Australian uniforms which really only need slouch hats/digger hats. The models for these have already been designed.
I dont know about game development but I doubt its very hard to add an existing model from an existing (event) squad into customisation and if some player somewhere can do that that would be great.

But my main point is it doesnt actually matter about separate teams. The fact still stands. Why are they wasting time and resources on how a track looks when the tanks cant even move properly?

Tanks were specifically invented to cross attack and cross trenches yet in Enlisted everytime a tank sees a trench the response is “Ah Ah Ah, You Didnt Say the Magic Word!”

As I wrote elsewhere its like when they did this big update making trees blow in the wind. Yeah kinda nice I guess, yes, different team to those that add like new squads or whatever, but of the players Who Actually Cares??
Youve spent all this time doing that, who’s going to download or keep playing Enlisted because the leaves rustle?? Does anyone even notice it?

Well the visual team could work more with player and reload animation. Some of them look very janky

The team regarding visual animation and graphics is just faster in giving us new update than the others, I don’t see where the issue is, giving time even the other departments are going release their work and usually happens in a big package with the major update
