Formation/command suggestion

CBT Roadmap says: “more available orders, ability to control formation” so I want to talk about formation/command that is close to my heart (for future use). Let’s call it “Support the tank” command.
Right now we can order AI to crew the tank but I would LOVE to see option to support the tank, what I mean is: follow the tank, kiling AT-inf. is priority, use tank as a mobile cover if going through open fields. Also AI marking general direction where the enemy is, but it can endup as marker spam.
Aditionaly option for tankers to drive as fast as inf. moves so they don’t end up with tank far ahead and no cover.
As you can tell it’s very team-based idea so things like voice chat may be needed to make it work.

for how much i would love this idea, it cannot work for a few reasons.

first of all, i wouldn’t reccomend it. because, if the player that is driving the tank, want to go on full assault, the risk it will be him getting killed along side your squad. so you would lose man power in a bounch of seconds.

second of all, even if the devs somehow manage to the make the AI follow the tank, what does make you think they are gonna take cover behind a tank? if that tank want to reverse, he will most likely kill all your squad mates.
even if your squad mates get in time on the side of the tank, they will eventually die anyway from heavy fire. because if that tank is treversing, i’m more than sure that there is a reason. not to mention, when that thing explode, the AI will get hurted by the explosion, and at that point, i don’t know what they will do. i presume run towards you and getting gunned in the back.

the point is, cover it’s not always guaranteed when assiting a tank. because, not even players covers tanks that close. and tanks are not supposed to lead in the first place in a game like enlisted, they should stay on the back, and support the infantry. since it’s an infantry game.

but if i’m wrong, i would love to see that.

Most of your points can be countered just by commanding your AI, so for example when you see the tanker is an idiot and rushes heavy fortified position you cancel command.
And honestly I forgot that tanks should stay behind. I’m mainly infantry player so tank behavior isn’t obvious to me.
So yea, it looks like it would be useless, unless we get some big open field maps. But still I love the idea.

Truee, but at the same time, false.

most of the time, included my self, forget about my squad, because in that specific moment, i’m shooting at something, or thinking about what to do next. in the meantime. i don’t have eyes on my bot. nor see what they are doing.

by saying this, many people forget about teammates because they are busy doing something else. nor sometimes it’s possible to stop in the middle of the fight and figure out what are doing your squad mates. or ever worse, time trying to figure out what the hell is that tank doing.

Yes, true. If you focus it’s hard to control the bots. Well, it’s just another way to kill your bots, nothing special. But it’s good to have choise how to waste manpower.
