Flying in Moscow

I’m mostly asking for advice from good pilots: while I have no problem flying as a Soviet in Moscow (still fly my lil I-16, cute and effective), since last update some planes received a “de facto” buff in maneuverability.

What is the best way as an axis pilot to take down the IL?

It’s a low lvl plane so it’s constantly in the air, but it’s like a flying jumbo… with good armament… that can now out steer any axis plane (bar the biplane that cannot really make a dent in it.)

So what do you pilots do to take it down? What tactic do you use? What plane type?

Note: before some turd points out the obvious, IT IS a “skill issue trololololo lmao” which is why I’m asking for advice. Since last update, flying is not as fun as most planes values changed drastically (looking at you Tunisian hurricane)

Bf 109 or bf 110 both have cannon, il2 hard to kill with only mg

Even so, IL got such ridiculously boosted maneuverability, that you only get the chance at one pass at it. If you fail to take it down in one go, you’re done as this flying tank can now turn just as well as a very light fighter plane… (hopefully this part will get reverted as it’s exaggerated)

And since it’s… well a tank that flies, chances to take it down in just one swoop are very slim.

So, what do you do to really take one down effectively until (hopefully) devs review all planes maneuverability? Is there even an effective way?

You have aim the wing, not the center of the plane

Anyway we can only dream a warthunder flying style here

Already do… works 1/5 of the time. Isn’t there a better tactic?

Not gonna lie I took back my old FW just to pester thdm. They cannot out turn THIS at the very least… But the FW can’t take down the IL either.

Most just bail out due to being annoyed. Then a new IL immediately appears in the air as it’s the starter bomber plane…

I do dream of it. Flying is now so bonkers in Enlisted since last update… values are mixed all over the place, end game planes now suck, starter ones now are op (like Tunisia hurricane and IL)… Getting hard to follow.

Playing axis in Moscow now just means spamming Kiraly and Mkb. Not super enticing.

I find use bf109E if you have it, or F2 if not, concentrate fire on one wing only, however many passes, one wing, always good to go for pilot snipes if opportunity, but also remember cannons are close range, if you hit enough it will go down and that may even be a few minutes afterwards… just don’t shoot behind it in the body, you will run out of ammo…

In real life, the IL2 had a very fragile tail, but in the game it can tank 20mm ammunition of a small occupied country.
So the problem is in the plane durability, not with you.

Pray to RNGesus.

Not only that but i think the Soviets are pretty aware of how good this thing is. Also, only last Pe is worth the time, the other feels worse since it lost its cool dope rockets and SB is paper plane begging for being treated as xp booster.

It’s dispiriting… I do have all regular planes in Moscow, but doing multiple pass is no longer a thing you can do… If the IL pilot decides to get his attention on you, a single pass is all you’ll get: you’ll never get behind it again.

Not certain exactly WHAT value changed (Drag, maybe?) But now it’s ludicrous how well it steers (IL). Would not be a problem if planes could reach the speed they are designed for… but as we know you are lucky if you can reach 400km/h while flying in a straight line

I’ve played to the 109s strength and outrun if I can’t get behind in a turn. After running come back and fire.

Aim ahead of the lead indicator. The lead indicator show bullet impact at the middle of the fuselage along its length; by aiming ahead you can kill the pilot or destroy the engine block resulting in a quick kill.

It’s the only viable thing to do I believe. Problem is, it’s very time consuming. Taking down a single IL can take ≈3 mins with this tactic, if not more, and as soon as it’s down a new one comes back .

Not efficient, not rewarding xp wise…

And AA now has overheat, because.

I use Bf 110 never had an issue tbh.

Used to do so, really well too. But since last update it doesn’t work so well thanks to strange changed values. Wondered if there was anything more effective.

Rngesus is strong in you

Hs123, that little shit took down over 50 IL2s for me. But, you have to be really wise on using it since it only have 7.9mm MG 34s. I usually sneak myself behind the IL2 and headshot the pilot from behind. As a plus, the Hs123 is also a very good bomber. I’ve even jokes that the Hs123 is the only real counter to the T34

Really interesting tactic. I overlooked the lil biplane before, never really flew back then and unlocked “better” planes when I started to seriously.

But now that plane specs are all over the place (as are tank, small arms, etc.) I’ll give it a go. Even if it doesn’t work for me, it’s bound to be funny :stuck_out_tongue:

Ofc it is, I think you can even call that trickshotting

IL-2 is unrealistic when turning, it can go super slow and can turn easily, even better than a biplane.

Such a heavy plane wouldn’t be that easy to turn. Remember back then it required physical strength to turn because controls were connected to cabels and not hydraulics.

So the devs are pretty much saying Russian man is super strong while German is weak and can barely turn a light plane.
