The Stinger already has its front sights but they are flipped down. I suggest flipping them up so you can aim properly with it.

Would act as an obstruction just like the lewis gun. No need to artificially nerf it. Shoots in straight line and easy to guide your fire with the high fire rate tracers when mounted… and awesome in cqc.
Personally love the open view and blunt sight.
Yes, together with mag capacity nerf of course.
What you consider to be “front sights” is about twice as long as it would need to be in order to function as front sights.
It would only serve as an obstruction, and the weapon would be unplayable.
This was explained to players in the discussion under the post announcing the addition of this weapon to the game. Feel free to go read it.

Maybe i mixed things up but im talking this and idk how that would block the vision
oh just the post? i digress then… if you ever had the bug where the whole sight pops up that was i though you meant
Guys, he’s referring to this front sight post that’s up on the M1919A4, but not on the Stinger.
It’s not the Lewis REAR sight that obstructs your view.
Yes. That’s exactly what we’re talking about.
Haven’t you noticed that the rear sights on the A4 are much higher than on the Stinger?
Lifted front sights simply wouldn’t work on the Stinger.
This was already discussed when stinger was released back then.
I find it absolutely astonishing that you don’t see it.
Theoretically, they could replace it with this, but I’m not really sure that would be historically accurate:
It definitely had a front sight, the source that claims the gun existed also claims it had a front sight:

Unfortunately the quote is too vague for us to ever know for sure which sights it had, but the front sight on the Stinger replica Ian mccollum is using would be good enough.
The front sight present on the stinger did not exist IRL and is just a result of DF copy pasting assets from the M1919A6 and not creating new assets.
On pictures with the real stingers there is no such thing present as it was intended to be used by planes where such a thing would be pointless to have and would be just dead weight.
Well, the ingame model has them too. They’re just not usable just by lifting them up.
Another possible solution:
Wow, no way. I was just showing what the Stinger would look like if its sight was flipped around. That aperture is even smaller than the .303’s. It’s totally unusable in fast-paced combat. You guys just want to nerf it because the Stinger is too strong, right?
This tiny sight was originally meant for aircraft use. It makes perfect sense to adjust it when it’s used by ground units.Let's fix the Lewis's sight setup — we need to give our players room to use their own initiative
Oh, so this is it. It actually looks like it can be fitted on just fine, and there wouldn’t be any issues at all. Hey man, I think you can still go back and edit your poll now—just click the pencil icon.
Reinsert this picture at the top there. When I first saw the title, I honestly thought you’d gotten possessed by DF and were just trying to troll the players.
I bet AA sights theoretically existed for them then.
I’m not sure if I was ever a part of those conversations, but you are right! I didn’t realize the rear sight was lower on the Stinger than the M1919. Admittedly, I was moreso responding to B2’s comment than yours, but I should have direct replied.
This was more of a “skim a friend’s post and see why people don’t want it” response than an intentional read. My bad.
And yes, your proposed solutions are probably the better option than what we currently have, until something better is found.
Honestly a 100 round Stinger would probably work better as a tech tree item
Yeah, it would be fun, but it still feels pretty unlikely. Historically there were only three Stingers anyway.
Still, if we’re talking about Japanese weapons, releasing them as a tech tree filler for the US isn’t completely out of the question.
The US is in a weird spot right now—they’ve had 100-round single-belt machine guns for ages,
but their fire rate still never keeps up. The old one they gave us that can’t even take a drum mag is basically a joke-tier weapon, might as well just stick it in BR4.
For a machine gun to actually be good, it all comes down to fire rate and magazine capacity first, then stability last.
Wonder if Britain has any better high-rate-of-fire drum-fed machine guns besides that paratrooper LMG.
Look at how they handled that newly added Japanese rifle—they immediately notified the devs to work on animations, fixes and all that.
The response is way too slow! There’s surely more than one staff member watching the English forums.
