I managed to convince what’s left of OKW Berlin to move us west, we are to entrench in the western suburbs to prevent a Soviet encirclement of the city and prevent any deserters from retreating. Upon arrival OKW expect enemy contact in our defensive area within 48 hours. We will use this time to entrench and further consolidate our equipment and reserves.

- Appropriate amounts of Flammol 19 is now available to deploy our pioneer’s flamethrowers, SC-2 Flametroopers are to be deployed asap as in urban environments as they are highly effective in close quarters. Cardio training is to be maintained to keep their average 12.3% Vitality boost.
SC-2 Radiomen are to be deployed from our reserves, while reserved they assisted in backline medical units, as such their efficiency in using medkits has increased 70%, they are also in better condition physically than current radio operators with higher physical scores specifically in Vitality and Mobility, replace your SC-1 Radiomen with them as soon as possible.
I’ve been informed that our heavy tank platoon is almost mechanically operational and SC-2 Tankers will be off maintenance duty soon, they’re 5% more efficient at vehicle repair with higher physical scores in Weapon Handling and Mobility, whilst technically better than SC-1 Tankers if you have veteran SC-1 Tankers with proper training you do not need to replace them with new SC-2 Tankers.
Our SC-3 Assaulters are being called from reserve once our Radiomen and Tankers return to us, like our Radiomen they were assisting in medical duties and as such are 100% more efficient with their medkits. In addition they have phenomenal physical scores, replace all SC-1 and 2 Assaulters with them upon their arrival.
Finally our SC-3 Snipers are being pulled from the eastern suburbs, they are experienced combatants and on average load their firearms 4.8% more efficiently in addition to having high physical scores. They have had assault training and thus make effective Marksmen but our SC-2 Snipers are better Sharpshooters, use them based on the unit.
- Our SC-2 Flametroopers will bring with them Flammenwerfer 41s, they have a higher burn temperature, twice the blast range, and half the weight of the Flammenwerfer 35, they are simply better, supplant your Flammenwerfer 35s with Flammenwerfer 41s as soon as they are available.
When our SC-2 Radiomen arrive they will bring with them 2nd model FG-42s, compared to the standard FG-42 they are much more accurate due to their noticeably lower recoil, well maintained FG-42s can still be used but if none are on hand upgrade them to FG-42 IIs when available.
I managed to secure a truck of Panzerfaust 100s, they are much better than our current Panzerfaust 60s due to their noticeably higher projectile velocity, this makes aiming much easier as the warhead maintains a flatter trajectory and at close range simply aiming directly at a spot on an enemy tank ensures pinpoint accuracy, replace your Panzerfaust 60s with Panzerfaust 100s immediately upon availability.
Our SC-3 Assaulters will bring with them MP 43/1s, this is one of the most advanced weapons in our arsenal, as effective in close quarters as our best sub machine guns and still effective at range they are a massive upgrade over our previous assaulter weapons, when possible replace all smgs in your inventory with MP 43/1s.
SC-3 Snipers will bring with them STG 44s with ZF4 optics, while not an effective sniper weapon the mid range accuracy offered by the ZF4 scope make it highly effective, they will not replace any sniper rifles in your inventory but they offer your snipers an ability to fight in close quarters effectively.
Finally 8cm Granatewerfer mortars will become available to us soon, they are better than our current 5cm GrW 36s but mortars are of limited effectiveness within city limits, you need not requisition them.
- SG3 has pulled Fw 190 D-12s for dive bomber duties, it is a highly effective multirole fighter that will certainly serve SG3’s pilots well though I have been informed that it has an incredibly snappy role rate which can make it difficult to fly, the Me 410 also has a bigger payload so some SG3 pilots may prefer to keep the Me 410.
Our SC-2 Tankers will bring with them Tiger Es, the Tiger is an incredibly potent tank with a gun that will usually knock out Soviet tanks with one shot and can devastate clustered infantry, in addition its armor is hard for Soviet 85mm guns to penetrate when properly angled and it has better mobility than the Panther thanks to a better reverse gear.
JG301 will get its Bf 109 K-4s in working order soon, it is much faster than any Soviet plane with good maneuverability and a devastating 30mm that is highly effective at strafing infantry functioning almost as an automatic grenade launcher as opposed to an autocannon, I find it likely that JG301 will retire their G-10s in favor of the K-4.
Finally our heavy tank platoon has informed me that our Tiger II Ps will be ready for service shortly after the Tiger Es, it is a terrifying vehicle and is possibly the best tank in the world, its armor is thick and hard to penetrate from the front especially when angled and its cannon can penetrate any Soviet tank currently in the field from any angle, they will supplant our Tiger Es once their required maintenance is complete.
- Through our combat experience over the course of this war we have learned many hard lessons but we have learned from them. Whilst unit composition is ultimately up to individual commanders I believe an overview over what works will be a welcome refresher that will help keep our combat efficiency high.
To begin with SC-2 Radiomen and Flametroopers as SC-3 Assaulters benefit highly from 35% Vitality cardio training, Flametroopers can get close to 50% more Vitality which significantly improves their survivability and SC-2 Radiomen and SC-3 Assaulters have higher medkit efficiency reducing the need for medkit training.
For all other soldiers training for improved Run Speed, Weapon Aim Speed, Medkit Use Time, Recoil Control, Medkit Efficiency, and Reload Speed remain the best training perks in whichever preference you believe best, all other training is either practically useless or of niche use such as better Swap Speed for your AT Gunners.
Maintaining Engineers in most of your units is beneficial not only to you but the rest of the unit, liberally place ammo stations and rally points to keep our operations moving as efficiently as possible. Given the sheer amount of Soviet armor maintaining AT Gunners is helpful but can be negated by equipping all men with Anti Tank Grenades. Radiomen placed in your units is also valued as a steady stream of artillery support has saved our units many times but artillery can be situational within city limits.
In urban environments ‘Shooting and Scooting’ with tanks minimizes exposure time to anti tank fire, due to the lack of proper reverse gears many of our tanks cannot do this, however the Tiger E has a reasonable reverse gear and such can utilize this tactic. While the pintle mounted MG 34 on our tanks boosts their effectiveness against infantry use it only in short bursts, the commander must expose himself to utilize it and makes an easy target for enemy snipers.
Personally I have found that this lineup works very well, 2 Assaulters, 1 Riflemen, 1 Flametrooper, 2 Tankers. One Assaulter unit equipped with a SC-3 sniper with STG 44 extends the effective range of the unit making it suitable for all ranges within city limits. Another Assaulter with a Machine Gunner with an MG 34 with drum magazine allows effective suppressive and defensive fire. Either Assaulters may be equipped with your choice of Engineers, Radiomen, and AT Gunners. The Riflemen with an Assaulter, Sniper, Radioman and FG-42 IIs is effective at all ranges and due to the unit size is effective at securing points. The Flametroopers in addition to clearing buildings can effectively engage any enemy when supported with one Engineer, one AT Gunner, one Radioman, and two Riflemen. The two Tankers, one with Tigers one with Panthers, tend to be more effective than aircraft within city limits and when one Tank is out of action another can immediately take its place.
This composition allows large degrees of versatility in engagements with all infantry units able to perform any role with select specialization per unit such as being more effective vs tanks or better an construction. The 212th has found significant success utilizing this composition but other units have found other options. These include…
3 Assaulters, 1 Flametroopers, 2 Tankers
2 Assaulters, 2 Engineers, 1 Tankers, 1 Attack Pilots
1 Machine Gunners, 1 Assaulters, 1 Engineers, 1 Flametroopers, 2 Tankers
Use what you find works best for you and your unit and don’t let other commanders dissuade you from what works for you, even if it seems… unconventional.
- Much of our action in Berlin is defensive, having Engineers on most or all units which constantly lay sandbags, barbed wire, and hedgehogs assist our units immeasurably in defending indoor positions, lay your barbed wire within the premises of the building rather than outside as it makes it harder for enemy Engineers to dismantle them and liberally place hedgehogs in all streets to slow Soviet tanks but be sure to keep the backlines free of hedgehogs so that our own tanks may move freely.
Consider your snipers in two categories, Marksmen and Sharpshooters. Sharpshooters are to function as traditional snipers whereas Marksmen utilize automatic and semi automatic scoped rifles to extend the effective range of the squad. Sharpshooters hang back from the action, Marksmen follow the infantry into action. Give Marksmen STG 44s and Gewehr 43s and Sharpshooters Kar98ks. SC-3 Snipers are better Marksmen, SC-2 Snipers are better Sharpshooters.
Do not bring your tanks into areas without infantry support if at all possible, Soviet troops have captured some of our Panzerfausts and many are equipped with anti tank grenades, they can easily destroy an entire armored unit if they get close. Stay with infantry so they can keep enemy infantry off of you. Infantry utilize the Infantry Phones located on our tanks to direct tank fire to enemy hotspots with Markers. Tanks are difficult to see out of and such information will boost armored combat efficiency.
Proper communication and coordination whether through radio, phone, runners, or even carrier pigeons is the one thing that is of most importance. Talk to other units, if possible establish a line of voice communication before entering combat, just talk and listen to others and your unit’s efficiency will improve noticeably.
Keep these things in mind and we will hold against the Red Menace, stand firm for your country, family, and comrades, we will see this through.
[Handwritten on the back of the notice-We are not to hold our position to the end, the Fuhrer has gone insane ordering counterattacks with non-existent units and is detached from reality, the SS is murdering any potential deserters real or imaginary, everything is crashing down. Hold the line as long as possible to maintain a corridor to escort civilians and the wounded to safety, if any SS or Volksturm units attempt to interfere kill them. When we can no longer hold we will retreat west then south to the nearest Allied units under Patton. This will be considered treason but I place the lives of my men and their families above the delusions of the Fuhrer and the bootlickers at OKW Berlin. On the signal TEMPLE begin your retreat. If possible maintain combat effectiveness in case the Soviets don’t stop at Berlin. BURN AFTER READING]
