So, I’ve just unlocked the flamethrower troops and as fun as they are, they’re quite underpowered vs. Human players. They cut down AI Troops with ease as the AI instantly tries to put out the flames, where as the Human players can still fire away and 9 times out of 10 will get you killed.
So, my point is, What is the point of these weapons, they are far too situational and most maps just don’t suit.
I honestly don’t know how they could rework or improve these, either increasing the range, damage or leaving them as shot range but making it that ALL enemies hit by the flames automatically try to extinguish the flames first.
So far, I think I’ve got a maximum of 3 or 4 kills before dying, where as any other trooper can easily get about 10.
They’re situational. Great for killing crowds of AI, that’s their strong point, especially in enclosed areas - good for clearing out cap points in buildings or bunkers.
Against human players they lose out, as I think they should - skill to reward ratio and all that. Prefiring helps a little, as does ducking into cover once you take a hit.
Yeah, they would be. But I think that it is better for them to be scary weapon than almost useless in most scenarios in Enlisted.
Flamethrowers attract AI attention very quickly and most of the times you just get melted in seconds after you fire it, even through flames.
But really, just clearing buildings. I have the squad unlocked but I’m approaching progression differently this time around so I haven’t touched it yet to have real experience.
Flamethrowers are insanely good for defending points. The problem is getting the flamethrower to the point alive. Once you’re there you can keep torching the floor on entry points and the ground will stay lit long enough to deter enemies. That’s how I’ve been using it at least.
Would be great if you could actually walk into the building without catching fire after “clearing” it, if you haven’t died by then due to the ungodly amount of aggro this thing pulls with its 1200RoF.
