use fire and alcohol to disinfect Germs
two ammo belongs in ammo racks not on the floor
If the Brits used their American tanks right Shermans are no more flammable than any other tank

WWII British tank crews sometimes resorted to storing shells on the tank floor as a last resort, but this was a highly dangerous practice. While official procedure was to use designated racks, crews often prioritized having a ready supply of ammunition in the heat of battle over safety concerns.

Where does this delicious barbecue smell come from?

t34-85 too.

I can also offer a unit and a skin.

The column is named after Dmitry Donskoy, a Moscow kniaz (kinda prince or lord) who is known for his enormous contribution to the unification of Russian lands, as well as several successful battles against the Mongol Golden Horde. The tanks themselves were created with donations from believers in churches. The column was equipped with T-34/85 and OT-34 tanks. (I’m not sure if there were OT-34/85s in it though)

Spoiler

On December 30, 1942, the Patriarchal Locum Tenens Metropolitan Sergius addressed an appeal to the bishops, priests and parish communities of the Russian Church:

ā€œLet us repeat the example of St. Sergius of Radonezh on behalf of our entire Orthodox Church and send our army, along with our prayers and blessings, a material proof of our participation in the common feat: let us build a column of tanks named after Dmitry Donskoy with our donations.ā€

At the same time, he sent a New Year’s greeting to I. V. Stalin. In announcing the invitation to the clergy and believers to donate for armored vehicles, the Metropolitan asked for a special account to be opened in the State Bank. The Metropolitan’s telegram and Stalin’s response: ā€œAn order to open a special account in the State Bank has been givenā€ were published in all newspapers. Thus, believers were given the opportunity to donate for the tank column even in those regions where there was not a single functioning church.

In a short period of time, over 8 million rubles were collected for the construction of 40 tanks[3]. They were built at the Nizhny Tagil Tank Plant. However, the ceremonial transfer of the tanks to the Red Army was possible only six months after the meeting of I. V. Stalin with the three metropolitans and the changes that followed in church life. It took place on March 7, 1944, 5 kilometers northwest of Tula, near the village of Gorelki. Metropolitan Nikolai of Krutitsy spoke at the rally[4] (this was the first official meeting of a church hierarch with Red Army soldiers during the war):

ā€œDrive the hated enemy out of our Great Rus’. Let the glorious name of Dmitry Donskoy lead us into battle for the sacred Russian land. Forward to victory, brother warriors!ā€

This story gives me some unreal 40k vibes.

However, I am confused by any vehicles in winter camouflage. After all, the developers cannot be bothered with changing the camouflage depending on the season and biome. And this white refrigerator on tracks will definitely be driving around Berlin in late April and early May.

Yes, especially when it gives off the vibes of a speech that would be given by an imperial guard commander. Most remarkable backstory a tank column can have by far. Good find :+1:

They need to add more late war winter maps like the Vistula-Oder offensive and the battle of Budapest castle so the winter camo’s could make more sense. Maybe even more eastern front village maps like Narva, and the dneiper- Carpathian offensive.

I would of course like to see the exclusion of any winter camouflages from non-winter maps. Even if after this winter camouflages will disappear on such high-BRwinter maps as Rzhev and STZ. For me it is much better than white camouflage suits against the background of golden foliage in autumn Stalingrad and snow-free tanks in the green forests of Seelow.

Summer skin. I still really hope that we will someday get automatic camouflage change on tanks in different campaigns. Like in soldier customization. But over time it becomes harder to believe this.

I did a half decent list of every interesting WWII flame equipment I could find not a while back. May be some inspiration there, though I did not put some interesting things like british flame AA.

Good post.

Yeah it’s only fair that they add the choice to give different biomes different paint jobs
