Flak cannons are a lot easier to counter than people seem to think

Flak cannons can be destroyed by AT rifles (and presumably other at gunner weapons), and it takes 1-3 shots depending on range. You don’t need to get close, you don’t need to aim carefully, you just need to hit the cannon and it takes damange, and enough hits kill it outright. You can also often hit the gunner through the flack cannon with the same shot.

I am persistently confused by how rare it is for my flak cannons to be taken out this way. People will try to run up with grenades, sure, but obviously flak is pretty good at preventing them from doing that. Popping out from behind a tree, taking a quick shot, then doing it again a bit later is a lot easier, and works just as well.

Also it is worth to remember that you can always hit the AA gunner even with your standard BA rifle (but scope makes that easier obviously). His head is sticking out right in the middle.

because people don’t think, fps players work solely on a ‘monkey see monkey do’ basis

Previously it wasn’t possible to hit or kill the gunner from the front, so people leant to either ignore then or just grenade them.

But now its changed, people are still stuck in the old ways.
Also, some campaigns have trashy weapons to deal with such weapons, like Moscow and Tunisia, you’re better off stabbing them than trying to function the GrB39.

Even without being able to kill the gunner from the front, you could still kill the cannon itself, which is much more important anyway. I’m guessing the main source of the problem is that in the fairly common case that the first shot doesn’t kill the gun, it doesn’t communicate at all that the gun itself has been damaged. That, and people really seem to not like using AT rifles, despite them being the best AT weapon for this particular use case due to their range and accuracy, and a good way to immobilize tanks by just punching them in the tracks a couple times.

Also, the poor GrB39 has been dealt a bad hand. Its actually a pretty capable weapon, essentially a sturmpistol with higher damage and much better range/velocity, as well as more ammo. It can reliably pen the Damiler and A13 from more or less any angle, with decent damage once it does so, and it can damage Grants from the sides or with hits to the gun sponsion. Damilers and A13s also have easy enough ammo spots to hit. It just has really clunky sights and more bullet drop than you’d expect, which means it takes a long time to figure out how to actually get a shot to hit where you want it to. Once you do get past that hurdle, its very useful, in tunisia, at least.

why would i ever bring an AT rifle. just detpack it

At 100m you cant

then i will run 70 meters and throw the detpack

If yo dont die first

i never die :muscle: :triumph:

My personal fav way of dealing with AA is mortar. You destroy the gun and kill the guy. Most likely you will also kill most/whole his squad with one hit, if not, do 1-2 shots a bit behind AA and get ez 6 kills.

Of course AA has to be in the open. Nothing is perfect

This 1000%. It also really helps when people MARK the AA gun or cannon! Then you don’t have to scramble as much. In fact, the mortar can excel in games where people mark gun emplacements. Looking at you, D-Day in Normandy…

this requires players capable of collaborating together and you rarely find them

This is why I play with a friend most of the time. Makes life so, so much better, even if we in all honesty don’t coordinate our efforts all that closely.

Ah cause everyone is running bombers with at rifle in the belrin coridors

I mean, I’m sure those fancy rpg things you guys have in there could still do the trick, but I can’t really speak to berlin because well, I picked the campaigns with AT rifles, since they are very shiny.

They are more like catapults and have a limited range, the way to fix flaks is not allowing them to be build under roofs, cause people who abuse em just build them in houses and corridors and fore from inside
