Fixing Jeeps

Jeeps have been out for more than 2 weeks now, and there are quite a few issues regarding them.

Firstly, the 50 Cal on the recent Willy’s Jeep has some form of damage issue (Seems like thw Willys M2HB is using a different 50 Cal??). I present clips below of 50 Cal Jeep VS APC M3 Halftrack 50 Cal (clips were merged, so the 50 Cal used from the different vehicles are not in order)

It is quite clear that the 50 Cal on the Willy’s Jeep “does less damage”. If you observe the Health Bar for the APC, whenever it was the 50 Cal from the Willy’s, it took forever to destroy the APC via the “HP bar”. The end of the clip also shows how the entire crew of the jeep are targeted by bots, which is another issue I will address later.

As you can see from the stat card, both vehicles use the same machine gun.

Secondly, the Kübelwagen has horrible off-road handling. It struggles to reach 30km/h off-road (despite the advertising of it being good off-road because it has 4-wheel drive, and it can’t even climb slight inclines on maps like Tunisia. Below are clips of the Kübelwagen struggling to climb a basic incline in Tunisia:

Soviet Jeep for comparison:

Lastly, enemy bots shoot your gunner accurately from insanely far (70m+++++). Unlike on the motorcycle, the Gunners on the Jeep have a much bigger area to get shot, and bots are snappy, and sometimes even shoot through bushes again.

Solution to Bot shooting crew on Jeeps
  • Bots should not shoot the gunner on Jeeps
  • Bots should not shoot the entire crew on Jeeps
  • No, it should stay the same as it is right now

I think the Kugelwagen terrain issue is more a problem Dagor engine has about traction and terrain, they should fix that to allow all wheeled vehicles to have better performance in off-road conditions, not only jeeps but also trucks, armored cars, motorcycles.

As I understand it, the reason for why vehicles has such awful terrain performance today is because German tankers on Normandy could drive up to really dominating positions overlooking the enemy.

It was a poor descion to nerf every vehicle in the long term - it shouldn’t have to be a struggle to drive my Churchills everywhere, they’re meant to clear obstacles! So, I don’t want the Kübelwagen buffed to ahistorical numbers in horsepowers and top speed - can we just have vehicles that don’t treat every surface as if they’re driving on mud…?

Did they really nerf all vehicles because of specific map problem on a single map? Considering the company in question, i wouldnt wonder unfortunately, but still it sounds so absurd.

That’s what I have been told by reliable sources. Pre-merge Normandy was unblanced, so lets brick every vehicle on all campaigns in perpetuity…

The gun elevation should be increased by all Jeeps and offroad cars.

Yeah at one point, tanks were able to climb like a 75% incline without much issue at all. Railroad tracks were always a problem though

mobility being trash is a typical Gaijin issue.
They design crappy maps than those maps have some great positions that some smart tankers will naturally exploit and instead of just slapping down a few czech hedgehogs to prevent tanks from going there, the devs choose to over nerf the vehicle mobility.
Because in the snail´s mind, map problems require mechanic adjustment “solutions”.

Its an issue in both Enlisted and War Thunder by the way.

I feel the main problem is that the maps are just too small.
There are also way too many obstacles on the maps, and these obstacles have ridiculously high health.
Things like cable reels, ladders, and stone walls.

If a tank drives into them, its speed drops to zero instantly. When a jeep crashes into them, it’s like a bad car crash. Once you hit one, you’re stuck. Abandoned vehicles litter almost every corner of the maps.

On many maps, driving a tank feels like navigating a maze, bumping into things nonstop. Wrecked cars tip tanks off balance, and rubble from collapsed stone walls catches under the tank hull and traps it.
The trees and bumpy terrain on the Normandy maps are just like the Siegfried Line.

You would never see anything like this in Battlefield or Call of Duty.
This kind of agony with vehicles is something unique to Enlisted.

So how much better can jeeps possibly be?
In Hell Let Loose, jeeps fitted with machine guns make excellent mobile firing positions.
But in this game, they are sitting targets with half their mobility cut.
They are nothing more than wobbly toys that can’t hit anything while moving.

That’s why I think the key to making armed jeeps useful is to first reduce the health of walls and other map obstacles, or add more open areas to the maps

You could remove them and that would also fix the problem… what a wasted update… now they can spend the next year fixing their mistakes they made and have slop events.

In the case of willys at least the unarmored ones were light enough 2 men could lift them, which means even at full tilt you probably couldn’t smash through some of these cobble walls but like wooden crates barrels and razor wire barriers should be no match though.
