Fix the Grey Zones

I’m only playing Normandy Allied. The grey zone or “leaving the battle area” is absolutely bad in general, and disastrous on some maps. The logic routine that moves “gray zones” needs updating.
I just finished Ver-Sur-Mer Invasion (from the beach) with Round fortress on the right hilltop looking from the beach. If an allied flanking player gets to that right side gulley and tries to flank up on the right hill side, a grey zone prevents that, but worse there is an axis sandbag emplacement on the hillside near the gulley, and is in the grey zone firing down on the allied flanking squad. A savvy axis aggressive player easily sweeps down on the flanking squad who are usually all prone due to fire from above, making them easy targets for the charging downhill axis player. Then he retreats back into the grey zone waiting for the next flankers.

Grey Zones treat foot infantry the same as vehicles as to how long they have to retreat out of the grey zone. I can’t tell you how many times in a tank I am killed because I can’t easily turn around or back up out of a grey zone. Tanks should be allowed at least 2-3 minutes to move out of the grey zone.

If spawn points are set up near a grey zone that should move out the grey zone distance no matter how it affects the flow direction of the game.

If you are fighting enemy 1 or x number within grenade distance of each other and the grey zone moves, you shouldn’t be killed by the game. It sucks to be literally surrounded by the enemy and maybe in a cover position and forced to expose yourself to satisfy the grey zone, bad game mechanics.

Also, arrows should appear pointing to the safe directions with distance indicated.

Maybe “get out of jail free cards” using the Monopoly term. A player gets 3 to 5 Safe passage out of grey zone cards. This would give the player extension in seconds ie 60 to 120 seconds. In the gulley example above I risked running up the hill into the grey zone to throw a grenade knowing I might not make it back safe, those cards would allow players to complete a flanking move then retreat.

It seriously sucks, if your in a tank-to-tank shootout, within maybe 2 grenade distance, and the grey zone shifts put you in danger, and the game kills you because you could not turn around and retreat…

I’m sure many have a lot better examples of the unfairness with the current grey zone system.

Why limit yourself to one faction in one campaign?

i mean.

he is not wrong:

before the stg and panther, USA used to dominate each match.
not that i have much against it, but…

in that period, they had a 75% win rate.

which for op, i don’t think gray area is that of a problem outside for gray tank campers.

those are the serious threat. and i’m glad keofox said that gray area will be adressed.

personally, i find it a bit stupid that gray area kill soldiers.
they should perhaps force them to lower the gun and not be able to fire after 5 seconds until they reach the battle area without killing any soldier. and if you go like, too far, or remain for too much in the gray area, then you should die because you aren’t supposed to be there. therefore the gray area could be used for crossing and allow the defenders that remained in the previous area to cover their back ally to turn back and proceed to defend the next area. otherwise majority of the time defenders get caught by the gray area and not even be able to return from it.

but, opinions are opinions.
and we’ll have to see what devs have in mind.

I’M only playing allied, 1. because I’m not pumping $$coin into the game except for the elite battle pass, the next will be only reg battle pass. Thus is faster grinding up by sticking to same champaign / side. 2. to learn and improve my skills, I will play Axis Normandy after I get a better assault gun. I have the M4 Sherman “Bomb” Canada (unique battlepass vehicle). I got “the bomb” at start of Level 15 which if I complete level 15 would get the base M4 Sherman for completing Lev15. I was really divided about do I waste that gold Unique Battlepass on a tank I would get for free. Well I sure am glad I decided to get the “Bomb” it came loaded with the Upgrades, at least I believe is loaded as no upgrades are offered.
Now that I’m not so lost in how to upgrade squads and what I should by with my arms/troop orders, the grind should be quicker, than if I had spread out over multiple campaigns.
