Fix shotguns please

Shotguns in the game are pretty much the worst gun type in the game by a long mile. Pretty much anything including a knife is better than a shotgun, because at least if you hit someone with a knife, it’s damage is consistent, while people some times don’t fall from a shotgun blast at point blank range. Also for some magic reason shotguns currently deal 0 damage past like 7m while real life shotguns have an effective range of at the very least 45m to 90m+, depending on the barrel length and ammo type, And that is landing enough hits with a small angle shell to drop someone, further than that you can certainly get to kill/ incapacitate someone, but is not 100% reliable.

To be fair currently I would rather run a nagant revolver as a main weapon than a shotgun in their current state. At least with the nagant I know that I can drop them by Landing a head shot or a couple of shots to the chest, and not die reloading after landing 2 centered shots for no effect.

This!
However, this isn´t bug…
It was intended nerf for shotguns that needs to be reverted. Shotguns before were already highly situational weapon that very few people used. Now it is utterly useless and unreliable even on point blank range.

really, if you’re going to shove shotguns into EVERY campaign, they have to be at least as usable as rifles are. It’s not like you get a lot of ammo for them anyway.

If devs buffs shotguns even slightly i bet someone will cry how moscow is unbalanced cause only soviets get boomstick

Germans got a their own double barrel shotgun

I don´t remember anyone crying in Moscow about shotguns.
Berlin premade squads were the only time someone tried to say shotguns are OP.

Seriously, even before nerfs shotguns were barely used in Moscow since any PPD does the job better.

confirmed that using your buttstock is more effective than a shotgun right now.

You forget the days of tcat arguing exactly that entirely on the premise that Germans didn’t get them.

yea, they need a buff for sure, but 40-90 meters?? dude, this is ww2, you wont get a shotgun like this

You’re more likely to get that range with a WWII shotgun than a modern military one.

Yes you do, those, 42m is a pretty short effective range for a shotgun, at that point it would drop someone with a shot barrel usually displayed by a combat shotgun, while hunting shotguns from that era can reach 90m easily. You have to take in account that those ranges would improve significantly depending the ammo and barrel length.

Also take in account that effective range ain’t the same as maximum range, those distances is considered effective on the shotguns because it is the range where you can be sure enough buckshot will land to take down an enemy in a single hit, further than that is not completely certain that your target will be killed or stopped in the first shot, but at the very least it would be very wounded.

isnt this OP?

please note that game devs make the shotguns seem like they have a rifled barrel instead of a smooth bore which all shotguns in that era were smooth bore. So far the gaming community would rather blame the item in game than their playstyle, to include call of duty players who complain about the shotguns used when the opposite player is within 40-90m.

I think having a balance of damage drop off and range would change the style in which the game is played and make more fun clearing trenches with a scatterblaster meant for peeking corners in tight areas. Or picking the shotgunners off as they try raid your control point and vice versa.

Sometimes we just wanna blast you with 00 buck

OP how?

At best it would be a side grade for a shotgun, literally bolt actions will remain better at those distances, as landing a shot on a partially exposed enemy, would drop them, yet with a shotgun at those distances, will depend in shooting exposed enemies or in multiple shots.

yeah, you are right, 90 meters just sounded a bit too much at first
