Hey everyone!
A new Japanese rifle was announced today for the upcoming Battle Pass. I was initially excited because I like the 5-round Arisaka Type 38 Rifle, and the 30-round version was supposed to be awesome.
But then I saw the stats… The developers simply took the poor stats of the starting Arisaka Type 38 Carbine and copied them for the new rifle. It looks really bad now:
Rate of fire significantly reduced from 72 to 62
Vertical recoil increased from 40 to 46
Horizontal recoil increased from 10 to 31 (!)
Velocity reduced from 770 to 735
Damage reduced from 24.1 to 23.6
Dispersion increased from 0.08 to 0.1
Bayonet removed
Overall, the new rifle doesn’t look like anything special. Instead of a truly cool and interesting weapon, the most forgotten and unpopular faction gets another mediocre one. Why? Why?
I suggest fixing the new rifle, using the stats of the original Type 38 Rifle instead of the Type 38 Carbine.
And I’d say they need to remove the “detachable” part from this entire thing and make it work like the G98 warmod. Because neither in real life nor on their model, is there any indication that that mag is removable…
Honestly, I can’t take anyone who gave this suggestion yes seriously.
If this weapon had the stats of the original Type 38 rifle and a 30-round magazine (not stripper clips), it would clearly be BR3 material and undoubtedly the best BA in the game, a clear case of power creep.
When something is “garbage,” it means it’s barely playable.
And neither of said weapons are barely playable. They’re well-balanced, decent weapons.
But I understand that for people who want pure power creep, anything that’s average in performance is trash.
What semi-automatic rifle is better at 2 BR than the Kretz P13, which has bolt-action damage? What machine gun is better at 4 BR than the TKB-264-42 with no dispersion?
Why should Japan be the only one getting garbage time after time?
I looked at photos of the original guns, and if it’s a Type 38 cavalry rifle, a part that should be slightly in front of the groove on the handguard is missing. If it’s a Type 99 rifle, the round part behind the groove is missing.
It’s likely that the base model is either a Type 38 rifle or a Type 38 short rifle. The Type 38 short rifle is longer than the Type 38 cavalry rifle and shorter than the Type 38 rifle.
How about making it have the same performance as the Type 38 rifle and setting the BR3, or
setting the performance somewhere between the Type 38 rifle and the Type 38 cavalry rifle and keeping it at BR2?
No bolt-action rifle should be at BR 3. With the possible exception of sniper rifles that don’t have a scope break.
But if we were faced with a choice: a good rifle at the popular BR 3 or the current garbage at the dead BR 2, I’d personally choose the former.
