Fix for grey zone campers

I could definitely see some kind of indestructible obstacle that the tank couldn’t destroy by shooting or running over being a good thing. The main place I’ve seen this problem is Gorge on Tunisia, and The Beach on D-Day.

you mean hedgehogs?

Possibly, but I was thinking more like buildings.

“Possibly, but I was thinking more like buildings.” So, basically every map played! If the maps were bigger, tanks would still keep their distance, but not be in the grey zone (a stupid mechanic if you asked me). So many tanks are SO SLOW and take forever to turn etc that it does not pay to move to close to the front. The Italian tanks are the worst! They go 8kph (5mph +/-) up a slight hill and have a difficult time turning, and 16kph (10mph+/-) downhill. The British tanks do not share this problem of course. I think in real life the AB-41 was far more mobile that they have it in the game!

In real life that’s how heavy tanks mostly engaged enemies, from distance otherwise they would be blown up. If tank is troubling you your job is to destroy it with aircraft, probably artillery also should be allowed to deal with gray zone campers. Besides you can build AT guns to deal with tanks i ngray zone, so i don’t think tank players should be punished by removing their xp.

AT guns are essentially useless in Normandy against Jumbos or Panthers. They need to give AT guns upgrades so they can actually penetrate tanks, make them mobile and give them more ammo or people wont waste the time

A few things
At guns are kinda useless(if you dont have one ready) as you need a proper sightline against a tank, usually requiring you to stand in/ near the open and to basically wait there for the time to build it

Without premium you cant take both a tank and a plane, meaning that if you dont have a good tank/havent decided to use a plane youre kinda screwed

Frankly, all vehicles need a long cooldown time in my opinion. 2-4 minutes, with an immediate spawn becoming available only when an objective is taken / lost.

They can still make day worse for Jumbo or Panther. Or at least take out couple of crew guys, forcing player to fix tank. When playing Panther i’m honestly more afraid of AT guns than Jumbo, because they are Hard to spot and could be placed anywhere, unlike enemy tanks which i already know where are coming from. I would say, taking out enemy Panther or Jumbo is more of a team effort, unless single player can get close, i even like that those tanks are not made of paper.

Problem is that tanks here are generally suited to be long range snipers. You are basically forced to be always scoped in so you can see very well into distance and combined with slow turret turning speed and gun traversal you are much comfortable at greater distance from enemy. Once you move in you lose situational awareness quickly and with slow turret infantry can easily out run you.

Its a ton easier now that you can rotate things as you place them. Stand in a doorway, rotate the gun to face the tank, and then build it while still in cover. Always good to kill tanks with guns that magically appear in front of them.

Had cases where I was next to the tank as engineer, but no tnt was left. So I just build two tank traps, one behind and one in front of him. Poor guy was so confused as to why he was completely stuck.

Alternatively, one tank trap in front, and an AT mine in back. Give them no choice but to blow themselves up.

OK. All of these are great ideas for how to kill a tank, except when the tank sits back in the grey area, where you are not allowed to go, because the game will consider you out of bounds and will kill you before you ever get a chance to get close to the tank. And how many battles have I been in where there weren’t any planes to attack those camper tanks? There may have been an engineer, but was the engineer leveled up enough to GET the AT gun? They never built one, so my guess is, the answer is no. In my opinion, if you’re able to get kills, then you should be killable. Sitting back getting kill after kill from a location where you know you cannot be killed, except by potentially non present specialists should be treated as an exploit at best.

problem is its not that easy to tell if your in the other side’s battlezone as a tank

True, so maybe they should put some kind of notification on the screen once you enter the battle zone or until you leave the grey zone. That would probably be a pretty easy thing to do, and then nobody would have any excuse for taking advantage of being unkillable. Then we would know that anybody still doing it is doing so specifically just to get the points without having to worry about whether they will be killed or not.

the other problem i can think of is being in the mutual battle zone means you are automatically in the middle of the fight sometimes. if they expanded the battlezone it would make life a little better for both sides imo

I can get behind that. There’s not a whole lot of space on the current maps, the way they are set up, to allow for maneuvering, and strategy.

If the idea of the gray zone cannot be improved or changed, a solution could be that firing from a tank that is in the gray zone, cannot penetrate enemy enemy armor nor kill infantry (i.e. drastically decrease the damage it can cause)
You could also remove the ability to repair the tank while in the gray zone too.
