Since we have bot squads anyway, why not use them for RTS?
On each spawn there will be a place (a desk with radio and maps, a command vehicle or sth) where players can take the field commander role. Each side would have 4-6 (made up numbers) of AI squads that would be controled by this commander.
Commander would have some basic control like: go there, atack/deffend this point, formations, follow the player etc. More can be added in the future.
I’d also add an option to spawn more/better AI squads but tbh I don’t really know how to bite this.
Additionally commander could deploy radio calls (like radio squad) but with some penalties (like longer waiting time between order and effect).
If there is no commander, AI squads execute given orders and then behave like currently (AI takes control).
Player would get small ammount of points his AI squads earn.
Have been thinking something along these lines, with bots my self.
As like in a game with 1-5 real players, the rest bots,
if somehow, the real players could some how, have/take control of a bot squad, each, to move about, etc
And yes, i like the idea of a commander.
Was it BF2, they had a commander role, he would drop arty/ammo, spot enemy’s etc?
Interesting idea…
Control the squads like in COH or MOW?
But what kind of AI squad should it spawn? Same as players’ or separate? May be researchable?
That’s gonna change the game mechanic though.
This cant work, an ipotetical rts system require M&K and the same game version is released on console currently, this system can become a breaking point between console and pc version
We cant do anything with that stupid dum bots
They dont focus where the enemy are, where to focus a fire, even dont reload at proper moment.
One more. The pathfinding system is literally garbage.
If anyone remembers the Titan event and how we got kill players to get a certain amount of points so you can use the Titan Maybe you can use that for the field commander to get special squads
