Feedback on “small” mechanics that I feel should be revisited and QOL improvement

Just a list of small Tweaks that have been introduced over time that I feel dont belong anymore (or never did). Also some quality of life things.

  • Starter tanks 20mm overheat (AA guns too as they have ammo and reload). These are not overly dangerous tanks (certainly not more than what comes after). There is no reason for them to require overheat mechanic.
  • Requiring flat terrain for engineer structures. Flat terrain for rally’s has been around for a long time but I don’t think it’s necessary. Bug or not, now that it is applying to AT guns and other structures, it has become a real pain to try and place stuff down in the heat of a fast-paced combat game. Is there a reason this restriction is needed at all (for any placeable)?
  • Add right click terrain flatten for Shovel (alternative for not removing above)
  • Mg emplacements only available to engineer IIs. Heavy MG emplacements come in a lot earlier with MG gunner I’s and is pretty much superior. Seems a bit redundant now.
  • AA gun Arc limiter. I would like to see this removed now that we are back to single barrel AA guns. I never minded it even when the quads were rampant. Heavy MGs are still more effective.
  • Some semi-Autos still have their RPM limited. (Looking at you M1 carbine)
  • Sandbag stacking was a fun gimmick, I enjoyed it. Of course, stacking on top of MGS can be left out as that was an exploit.
  • Smoke grenades\smoke mortar are lacking. Increase Smoke Volume
  • Artillery smoke, if not getting its own timer, perhaps increase density for large smoke screens
  • Unequip all soldiers button in main menu

*EDIT additions

@114698082

  • Generous Points For Defusing objective. Absolutely vital and alot of times clutch. Should be rewarded
  • Fighting on Train should be equal to fighting on objective (Kills on objective)

Feel free to add (I didnt say stuff like Bipods because that needs an overhaul with MGS. sorta hoping that since tanks got some TLC, it would be MGS turn soon)

From my understanding, that will no longer be the case post-merge.

VERY MUCH AGREE. Shouldn’t be a terribly hard fix to deal with the exploit.

You know my list by now, if not, feel free to check my posts! lol

Only things to add to this list directly though would be a creeping greyzone, and knowledge of where objectives are going to be for defenders.

Actually giving defenders a little chance to set up in advance.

I wish too but I don’t think so.

I agree with all suggestions!

I also think that artillery smoke should have it’s own timer. It could always be changed back if it had negative impact without being as frustrating to players as nerfing things we’ve spent stacks of silver on.

I basically agree almost everything, i still wondering why the game put overheat mechanic over the gun that have ammo and reload mechanic. MG nest yes overheat because it has unlimited ammo, but AA gun, it has ammo, it is reload also, have overheat and dont forget some tank that auto small cannon also have overheat despite have ammo and also relead.

For AT gun placement i suspect its bugged, i cant even build AT gun on road for some reason

There was already a topic on the forum here.
separate timer something like this?
EN_Команды отряда арт поддержка
Green circle - means Ready

Brooo, I don’t know if I’m the only one, but in the last few weeks I noticed that in order to build something you need to be on a complete flat area or I don’t even know what else, everywhere you go you get the error message saying “Can’t build because it’s blocked by other objects” and it’s outrageous.

Agree, this was changed because of the 4 barrel AA, now it’s useless and unrealistic. It’s widely known that AA were used against infantry as well.

It is something we need, I don’t remember officers and commanders saying “it’s forbidden to stack sandbags guys, the only stacked ones are the ones you see on the map, that for some reason were here when we came”. And I’m not saying building sand castles, just 2 levels  .

Yeah. Both ideas are great, not taking them separately. Smoke is harmless, so it shouldn’t be in the same category as bombing, and the time for smoke is too short.

Some topics were repeated and are going to be. 'Cause we feel devs are either not listening or adding what they want.
Btw, I like that idea, but I’d change the way it’s shown, for it’s a bit annoying on-screen.

This is like Battlefield style. the image is heavily cropped. It’s not as bulky as you think.

major pain in my hole…it’s getting waaaay too janky…It used to be sweet.

Yep, and about building RPs even on hills or not flat areas I think it should be something normal, unless they explain us that it creates some new bugs (which I believe they’re not going to do).

Agree on all those.

Plus quick chat. Attack defend gojng back to the old way with a choice wheel.

The issue that I have with it though is that there is ALREADY constant bombardment due to 2 or more players using radio operators. By giving them each their own cooldown, that will get even worse plus throw additional smoke into the mix.

Considering there isn’t friendly fire on artillery, this would get beyond excessive.

Once I suggested to add a resource you need to spend to call artylery. Command points or sth like that.

You would get X ammount of points when you spawn your radioman and Y/s when he is alive.
Each call would cost some points so if you can’t simply spam arty.

Also now when I think of it, non-arty kills can give you additional command points. This way the more you kill the more support you can call.

I really like that idea. It puts them a little bit more on par with engineers in that regard.

This part however I do not like. As it doesn’t help prevent the issue of players sitting back with a sniper rifle to obtain additional points with which to call in artillery strikes.

Also, engineers run out of “materials” and can’t get any more, so why should artillery have the chance to get more “command” points?

yes, that’s the point. make more smoke. now its quantity is zero.
smoke is not used in the game. because it is better to cause an artillery strike. at the moment, smoke and smoke grenades are useless and not used. since they take the place of artillery and grenades. I think this is wrong. Don’t you agree? Or it’s better not to change anything.

agree with all but sandbag stacking

This is so important. I hate it when I have to endlessly dig a wider hole and it still says that the terrain is not flat enough to build a rally point.

All of these should be implemented, it is a no-brainer for me. Also, about equipping and unequipping the squads - there should be an option to save a full list od equipment for all soldiers on the squad as one list. This was an option that I was expecting the most from the update that included the equipment saves. I don’t use the set of squads save, but an option to re-equip a whole squad with 1 or 2 clicks is very much needed in this game.
