Feedback and suggestions from a new player - Part I

Some ideas that crossed my mind while playing and I would like to share with the development team and community.

New players commands:

When using the communication tabs i noticed there are some various commands missing such as the following:

  • Need repair
  • Enemy aircraft
  • Enemy tank
  • Build anti-tank guns
  • Set up defences in
  • Build sandbags
  • Build barbed wire
  • Build anti-tank traps
  • Get in
  • Get out

Additionally I would suggest the word Ask on the quick chat to be changed to Requests or Ask for.

New AI commands
I’ve made a slightly more detailed description in a independent suggestion: New squadron commands

Bigger maps

When referring to bigger maps, I am not exclusively talking about bigger physical scenarios, but a larger playable area. I’ve noticed the maps are gorgeously modelled beyond the current limits and I do consider this should be experimented by the community. The game should go towards large scale confrontations in where all classes can enjoy their pros and cons. The AI squads are the core of the game and righteously could fill these larger scenarios.

Of course, this is likely to entail some technical issues to consider such as the number of players the game can handle, playtime, extra respawn areas, more capture zones and overall balance to locations. But I do think the ultimate Enlisted experience for many players lies in large scale battles - Large battles that evidence those historical and massive aspects of the campaigns depicted.

I’ve noticed there is a decent number of transport vehicles and a growing amount of combat vehicles. Both of these types could be more efficiently combined in the game with larger maps. Think about the addition of Halftracks for example. I mention this because, in some instances, the transport vehicles are necessary due to the current playable limits.

New tools

Wire cutter: I thought about this because I consider the current destruction of the barbed wire is somewhat poor or unrealistic. Barbed wire defences can be a challenge for unprepared troops. This new tool would decrease the amount of time to destroy the barbed wire defences while the current destruction time would be increased somewhat. Opting for a slightly more realistic approach, a more balanced and overall nice-looking tool for the outfit of any well-prepared soldier, sapper or engineer. This tool could be equipped by all classes.

Binoculars: This one is a classic. Not many elite soldiers can do without it. Giving the ability to the squad commanders to scout the area ahead of themselves and plan the best approach. Sniper’s look will be nearly completed with this essential tool. This tool could be equipped by all classes.

Flashlights: While playing I often found myself fighting in very dark rooms, that French mansion for example. This tool would be useful in such situations. It could also help if any low visibility or noon, early-morning scenario is added, such as paratrooper operations .

Camera: This one might be less regarded by some people, although i do think it could be added as a easter-egg or symbolic artistic feature. Having this would allow our soldiers to take a photo of the victory with their squads or the intense yet beautiful battlefields of the game.

Model sidearms holster

The current look of the soldiers is missing some more detailed equipment. If the soldier is equipped with a sidearm pistol or revolver, a holster with the gun will be shown.

Model Knives holster

Same case as the sidearm holster, this detail should look great on the outfit of soldiers.

More classes

Medic class: The disponibility of individual med kits in the game is quite effective. Although in some cases, it might take a while to keep your entire squad well equipped with many medikits. That is why i suggest a class of Combat medics that will arrive to the game using pistols, revolvers or possibly small arms as carbines or sub-machine guns. A filled backpack slot with a large medical bag with unlimited capability to heal squad members and a passive ability to slowly heal nearby team members. Each of axis and allies will have a squadron of combat medics. A medic could be added to some already existing squadrons, just like a radio operator can be added for example.

This will be arguably one of the most defensive gameplays but can work effectively for those players that enjoy teamplay and more of a challenge.

Good point. That is where the larger maps comes in. The pace of the game will depend more on the larger amount of objectives and time to prepare or even classes tuning. Additionally, the commands can be foldered inside the quick chat. Who knows, we could sometime even remove or add our own shortcut keys for the quick chat.

Medic has been discussed, and I’m fairly certain the devs have stated they were not looking to add them. However, you can give your trooper large backpacks and 4 medkits, and use them to revive downed teammates.

Well, the four slots of the backpack could also be used in the future to carry other type of equipment or tools, not just medikits or repair kits as it is currently. Besides, carrying a backpack already is a trade off from munition or grenade pouches.

The idea of a Medic class is the specialization in healing other friendly troops either by a passive ability or possibly a medical ‘tent’ as the ammo boxes by the engineer, plus a large medical bag with unlimited capability to heal squad members.

Other classes capable of using the backpack slot could then be specialized in grenades of various kinds or more ammo. Without overplaying the possibility of having the entirety of your squad with a large backpack and 4 medical kits. This would be up to the desired playstyle of the player.

Lastly, having a class of medics might prove a cheaper alternative for those players having issues purchasing and equipping each one of their troops. Instead of having to purchase large backpacks (Latter game) and also medikits for them all, one or two combat medics could provide a similar function.

Decent ideas, but the devs have stated they are not gonna add medics, so the backpacks with 4 medkits is the closest alternative. Sorry.
