Custom battles are one of the best features in Enlisted, giving players freedom to set up unique matches. However, there’s a recurring issue where players join a custom game intending to play as their main nation, but end up being forced into a different one.
Current Issue:
At present, when entering custom games, players may be randomly placed into a nation they don’t want to use (e.g., joining as the USSR when you mainly play Germany, or being switched to the USA instead of Japan). Even if you leave the match, reselect your nation, and rejoin, the system often continues to place you in the unwanted army until the game ends. This can be frustrating and discourages players from sticking with custom battles.
Suggestion:
Add a simple quality-of-life option to the game:
Allow players to set one nation as their favourite.
When joining custom matches, the system will automatically attempt to place the player in their favourited nation (if available in that match).
If the favourite nation isn’t part of the custom game’s setup, the player would then join as another available side as normal.
Benefits:
Prevents wasted time leaving and rejoining matches.
Ensures players can consistently represent the nation they enjoy most, whether that’s Germany, USSR, USA, Britain, Japan, Italy, or any future additions.
Makes custom games more welcoming for both casual and dedicated players.
Provides a smoother, less frustrating experience that encourages players to stay in matches rather than abandoning them.

A favourite nation auto-select would be a small but highly effective quality-of-life improvement for Enlisted. It removes unnecessary frustration and lets players focus on enjoying custom battles with their chosen army.
