About MP18, 28, 34o
In Japanese service, MP18/28 have larger magazine. MP34 had 20 ammo magazine, but MP18/28 had long 50 ammo magazine. If you want SMG with large count of ammo, perhaps MP28 is better.
About Type 98 50 mm Mortar
Thank you to clarify it! I didn’t know in English area this Bangalore thrower is called “mortar” and I searched “Mortar” (迫撃砲/臼砲) so I confused. (Japanese name: Type 98 5cm Thrower / 九八式五糎投擲器)
This weapons launches large Bangalore or stick bombs. Compare to other mortars in game, these ammunition seems too powerful.
Generally speaking, Type 89 grenade launcher is corresponding to other countries’ light infantry mortar. Different to PIAT, launching angle is fixed (adjust range by amount of powder) and launches hand grenade or standard mortar ammunition. Differences is just weight of it.
I didn’t know that about the magazines, so thank you for telling me again. I was just going off of the models already in the game. Mp-28 with a 50 round mag could be interesting, but it would just pale in comparison to the drum Tommy. the Nambu Type 2 or the Experimental Type 2 is similar to a PPD 34/38, which people have been complaining about since jump street, so I see it as a rough equivalent to the tommy
About the Mortars, I was under the impression the knee mortar was similar to the RMN-50 the Soviets have in game. If it’s more like a traditional mortar, replacing the Type 98 with it is definitely feasible.
I think Type 89 is similar to in-game mortar like allied Two-inch mortar. In other hand, Type 98 5-cm thrower is engineer’s heavy-weight (84.2 kg) torpedo thrower to destroy enemy fortification…
Also, in game, player can fire RMN-50 while holding on hand, but operator of Type 89 must put it on ground when fire it.
Comparison of in-game mortar and Japanese mortars during WW2:
Comparing them, Type 98 seems too heavy, and Type 89 is similar to Two-inch mortar.
