I noticed something from the various campaigns where there are certain factions that love to spam tanks often regardless of the map and the situation. Based on my experience It’s Moscow Axis and Tunisia Allies that love to spam tanks the most alongside Normandy Allies with the most common being the starter tanks.
What made players of those factions use tanks so much even when the situation doesn’t favor the use like map design or enemy has strong AT capabilities and vehicles? Easy kills? Sure they don’t do much either they get blown up fast or bringing tanks the wrong way like good tank players can actually get lots of kills in just a single tank when used right on the right time.
At times I like to surprise such players with a tank of my own like T-28E in Moscow or T-34-85 in Berlin and feels satisfying to blow them up especially when they keep spamming them.
In Tunisia for allies is the big gap between universal tactic machines - Cruiser and Grant. Cruiser is a litlle bit skillneed machine, so not everybody can handle it effectively. And we have plenty burned Cruisers every match.
Daimler… Oh, this machine is not situable for everage player. Interesting, and sometimes very effective, but situative and need both skill and tactics.
Soviet tanks in Moscow also have a similar situation with T-60 having an autocannon that’s best for infantry or thinly armored vehicles and in some cases, aircraft. T-26 and BT-7 have decent AT capabilities but against infantry with HE not so much where the MG is much better than the HE shell. T-50 has the same problem with the firepower except better armor than the earlier tanks even with two MGs on the turret.
The first T-28 have 3 MGs that’s great against infantry along with a powerful HE but the problem is limited by the shrapnel shell which can be tricky to use against any German tank but the Panzer II(can be destroyed in one good shot). The T-28E however is actually the best tank the Soviets have in Moscow right now in terms of firepower with a 76mm APHE but what drags it down is the huge size and its slow compared to BT-7 and T-50.
I have seen battles where the enemy team are just mindlessly spamming tanks even when situations like the road in Lehter Bahnhof near the first cap being clogged with lots destroyed tanks already or certain caps like Monastery, Wilhelmstrasse and Hermann Goering’s 4th and 5th caps where tanks were limited by the map design.
The beach maps in Normandy were much worse especially if Germans have Panther or the CAS that’s constantly destroying allied tanks yet some players still spawn and spam them which is just more dog food for the tankers.
Nope. Soviet tanks have no gaps in progression tree. We have starting crap for low level, then we have normal tank, that can pen and burn any german tank. BT-7 much more powerful because of maneuverability. Then goes pretty tram that executes infantry and blasts enemy tanks (of course if you point to enemy’s turret). And then T-50 that I had not unlocked yet, but it is nail in the ass when I playing germans. So, no gaps, second tank can effectively blast several german tanks from Pz.II to Pz.III J.
Well, from my experience Allies in Berlin really like to spam T-34s too. Sometimes even when they clearly know that something is not right for them (Tiger parked in the middle of the Willhelmstrasse or on the Bridge, well positioned Pak40 etc).
My theory is that they are used to dominating Pz IVs and mostly bot Axis players before, when there were much less players actually fighting back. So now it is harder for them do adapt if they meet strong resistance capable of destroying one tank after another.
Something similar might happen for example in Normandy when devs will continue with the powercreep and will add something that will be able to put a fight to the Panther. My guess is that most players used to shooting Stuarts like ducks from the hill will be very dissapointed.
T-26 and BT-7 may be close to each other which okay normal tanks while T-50 and the T-28s were far ahead. German tank spammers in Moscow especially with premium 38ts and Panzer IVs while the team using mostly T-60s are annoying as hell considering Moscow Germany is one of the factions people spam tanks the most which is why I always have my T-28E and T-50 ready.
Atleast there are more options against tank spammers with the Panzerfaust and T-34.
When I played Red Army, most german tanks was Pz.II and Pz.IVE. So, we have juniors and middle-senior players. Because Pz.IVE is much more effective then Pz.III J even with thinner armor.
As for Wehrmacht, I have all tanks unlocked, and still prefer Pz. IVE.
I do notice Soviets in Berlin spamming T-34s and I noticed how they struggle against Panthers even worse against Tigers which not sure if many of them know how to shoot the upper front plate with the 85mm like I did using experience from War Thunder. Even shooting Panthers with the 85mm in this game took me awhile until I decided to practice figuring out the sweet spot of the front turret. If only they add the Tiger at the practice range for Berlin so I could practice shooting them too.
Seelow Heights really tested the capabilities of those who love to spam tanks in Berlin where the map is much more open and I did flank a panther one time in my T-34 and destroyed it in one shot.
T-34-85s with D-5Ts are more common for USSR in Berlin while I have the gold T-34-85 with ZiS S-53. Basically the common one is the T-34-85 with less crew members and less armored turret. I was about to talk those who struggle fighting panthers even with the starter tank capable of fighting tigers.
yes it is true but it can be done and that is why we can define the battle between tanks in enlisted, balanced, it would be a problem if the initial tank could not destroy the higher level one
