The carbine could only fire single shots. It used ammunition that was practically a full-fledged intermediate cartridge. This 7.63x32 cartridge was made on the basis of an extended 7.63 mm Borchardt-Mauser cartridge case. Mannlicher’s death in 1904 prevented further work in this direction
