Everything is clear with HEAT shells. But how to achieve better armor? There are two options. The first is to simply wrap the tank in tracks. The second option is that there is unconfirmed information that 105mm guns were installed on Sherman-Jumbo tanks in field conditions.

I don’t think there’s a way to mount the 105mm mantlet on the jumbo’s specialised turret…
Could be mistaken, though or maybe the reporta are.

That’s why I clarified that this is unconfirmed information.
There is a M26 Pershing with a 105.
It’s called M45.
It could be an alternative.

If I’m not mistaken, they only started making these during the Korean War.

Ok, that was what I was afraid of. I wasn’t sure if it was post war or not.
Well too bad then.
Edit : the prototype (T26E2) seems to be from July 1945 though.

While technicly still in WW2 it would still be post war if fighting germany…
Kinda stupid that US is allowed to have post war stuff just because some mostly unrelated conflict to the fighting in europe is used to justify it.
