Stalingrad was always a controversial campaign thanks to the strange paywall it came with, however, the map in terms of design is quite good, however it lacks atmosphere. In real life, the city was constantly bombed by both armies, both the USSR and the Germans used numerous artillery bursts and aerial bombardments on the city in the first months of combat (thanks to some reports that we can find on the map we can deduce The battle in the game takes place between the end of September and the beginning of October, without taking into account the factory map), thus turning the city into a real hell, an example would be this image.
In enlisted, although a large part of the buildings are in ruins, the environment of the city looks too clean, without smoke or fire or burning objects, it is strange since in Berlin we can appreciate this environment, so I suggest adding these effects around the map of Stalingrad to give it a better setting.
Stalingrad is a great map, and it really needs more love, whether it’s adding these environmental effects or even expanding the city with more and new areas
They could address that with more weather effects, although the reason its not too sooty is because you have to factor in the air game . Mind you if you drop enough smoke on target from the GrW 36 or better yet an arty strike you can still get some ambience of that.
I’d like to see more destructible terrain features in Stalingrad though. So more damage from arty or tank shells to the buildings - facades collapsing and all that.
Esp if someone summons the bomber group a couple of times. I’d like to see the buildings collapse and bury both sides in them when they do so.
Then it will be fighting in the mounds of rubble like the history books recall.
I agree entirely, the Maps should also have more buildings per square kilometer and more rubble, as well as the dark skies and gloomy atmosphere. The same thing could also be said with Normandy France on the beaches, it was overcast on D-Day, I’m not sure how we ended up with a beautiful south Florida style beach day lol.
